Re: Sims stand still when holding stuff

@Raborix Which platform are you playing on ?

Stop you mean as in the game freezes or do they just stop walking ?

I play on PC and by "stop" I mean all the sims just stay still, not completing any actions and just bob their heads. As soon as I delete the item they're holding everything goes back to normal. It is so frequent and predictable that any time sims stop doing anything I start looking for sims holding something (I noticed that empty plates cause this but not full ones. Glasses make everyone stop no matter if they're full or empty). In bars and nightclubs and such, it is especially frustrating, because everyone is buying drinks. I also have problems with different venue types. At nightclubs (not bars for some reason) everyone keeps pulling those futurecubes out of thin air and using them, even after deleting them. And in university dorms all the furniture keeps disappearing one by one, like if there were kleptomaniacs. These are just few of the problems that came to my mind while I was writing this that I couldn't find answers to.

@Raborix I don't know if there are any newer graphics drivers for AMD for Win 8.1 but it's worth checking. Yours are from 2014.

Think we haven't talked about mods yet. Are you using mods/cc ?

I actually use a lot of mods. I have tested the game with and without them but the problem persists. The game does run a lot more smoothly without mods but removing them doesn't seem to help with this particular issue.

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.
