I'll do more extensive testing tomorrow, however it does seem that this was fixed from occurring further PRELIMINARILY. I went into one save and made the kids go to sleep for about an hour in game time over and over till one of the two lost a tooth. He lost two, she lost one and neither got squished faces.
I'll test it more tomorrow unless others test it and have it come up (this was just a small test in one save cuz it's late).
Sims who were changed by this issue previously are PERMANENTLY altered as this is/was a glitch with genetics and so is something they can't fix retroactively as far as I'm aware.
The only fixes I'm aware of are to either use MCCC to copy/paste if you've got an old version of the Sim or to recover the save to see if it goes far enough back that the child is unaffected.
- Oddball-Meo3 years agoSeasoned Traveler@MoonlitexAngel This is how I understand it as well.
The patch was meant to ensure that this will no longer occur for the new child sims that haven't been affected yet but every child sim that was previously hit with this bug will continue to have permanent changes going forward.
Which sadly, means if your child sims have a squished face, it will not be fixed and on top of that, because it is genetic, that child sims' children will also have squished faces. - rostsit3 years agoSeasoned Ace@MoonlitexAngel regarding MCCC.
Can I just revert my teen sim to a child, when she had normal face, copy that face with MCCC, then change her back to teen and paste that face with MCCC?
This should fix even permanently broken sims... - SoraBunni3 years agoNew Rookie
@rostsitFrom reading this thread, it seems like their appearance changes when they start losing teeth. I copied and pasted the gallery versions of my sims as kids, and when I aged them up they still had deformed faces. I had to age up all versions and then copy the faces for it to work. I hope that made sense 🙃.
Well I copied the faces and when I tested aging them up to YA in CAS, they reverted back to the deformed face.
- rostsit3 years agoSeasoned Ace@SoraBunni Thanks for sharing. I will try some testing with MCCC also.
- @MoonlitexAngel Yeah, I recovered the furthest save I could and she's still bugged. So my understanding is that with the MCCC copy/paste option, I would have to do this with each life stage going forward. Right? I've been debating whether or not I should delete her from the household and replace her with the unbugged gallery copy.

Hey all,
For clarification: If you saved your game after a Sim was altered by the Lose Tooth feature (before we disabled it back in March), then that Sim has been permanently altered within that save file, and the fixes that were pushed live yesterday will not restore them to their previously unaltered state. - @AngelGirl232 No. The MCCC copy/paste changes their genetic data to what you copied so it essentially fixes the issue. You'd only have to do it again if the glitch pops back up and messes up their face again.
The change doesn't happen upon aging or anything like that, it happened when the child pulled the tooth. It was just harder to tell because children's faces all look very similar. So once you fix it then it's fixed and you don't have to worry about it again.
In the case of not having the ability to copy their old self before they were messed up, the only suggestion I've got is to go into cas full edit mode and manually change their facial features. You probably won't get it perfect but you can likely get it close especially if you have a picture of how they used to look. - @MoonlitexAngel Really? I've been testing it with my bugged sim and her unbugged copy. I copy/paste but as soon as I age her up her face reverts back.
- rlc773 years agoSeasoned Ace@EA_Cade It would have been nice if the patch notes mentioned this.
- @AngelGirl232 Might wanna talk to someone on Deaderpool's Discord then as it shouldn't be doing that from my understanding.
- rlc773 years agoSeasoned Ace@AngelGirl232 Have you tried aging them both up and then doing the copy/paste?

Please describe the patch or change you made. The newest patch 26 april 2023
On the 26th there was a patch to fix the cross eyed/underbite sims bug. I have updated but my sims still look janky. Some have stretched proportions, tiny eyes or larger eyes, squashed faces etc. they no longer look like themselves. Anyone else find their sims still look buggy even after the patch?
- @rlc77 I copy/paste the sims as children then immediately aged the original up to a teen. Her face reverted back so I aged the copy up to teen and copy/paste Then to test it again, I aged the original up to a young adult and still her face reverted back to the bugged version.
While doing that I noticed my second sim child in the same save file (who I thought was fine) was also bugged. I just ended up deleting them both and replacing them with their unbugged copies. I do have a recovery save file if I ever want to go back and fool around with it. I'm just over it at this point. This was an awful bug. If I didn't have gallery copies my sims would have been permanently ruined. - @LolaLikesC4 Sims who were affected by the issue before the patch aren't fixed. This was a genetics issue so I'm not sure it's possible for them to fix it, they just prevented it from happening further (as far as we know currently).
This glitch is still happening. I have a child who was born after the loose tooth feature was disabled, hence her genetics should have not been affected. I saved her to my library to keep her genetics in case the glitch would still happen before i patched my game. Well, now she had the loose tooth, and when the tooth came off her facial features shrank. It’s not very noticeable in her child form but if you age her up, it’s super clear. The nose and the jaw shrunk. Here are some pics for reference. Please fix this quickly or at least make the loose tooth feature optional! I don’t want to have distorted sims!!!
I also came here to request they please make this feature optional because I dont like it and would like to turn it off.
- @BumblebeeCat9 This almost looks more like this: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Big-tiny-heads-eyes-and-noses/m-p/12519024#M249130
Sims with this issue from this thread had a very distinct look and your Sim imo doesn't seem to have it. By that I mean Sims with this particular issue seemed to have their noses shoved halfway up their face so it made them all have a very distinct look. Your Sim however doesn't seem to have that (it looks like her eyes shrink, lids came down a bit, and her chin shrunk).
My suggestion is making your own thread about it cuz I believe this one isn't really being watched anymore so you're not likely to catch the attention of Heroes/EA employees (plus the original creator of this thread was talking about genetics not being retroactively fixed instead of the change itself happening). They can always move it back here if I'm wrong. - crinrict3 years agoHero+
It looks like there's currently three very similar issues. Please pick the right thread to report.
- New children are affected with the facial feature shrink issue as soon as they loose a tooth: [GRO] New Sims: Facial features shrink after loosing tooth (Patch 1.97.62)
- Already affected Sims do not change to normal (this is not a bug cause the game can't revert already bugged Sims. The bug fix was only for new Sims going forward): [NOT BUG] Pre-Patch Sims: Appearance not fixed with tooth patch update.
- Children still turn black after loosing a tooth (possibly mod related, make sure you remove all your mods and delete the localthumbcache file): [GRO] Loose Tooth corrupting Child's Skin Patch 1.97.62)
- Sims get big/small heads or facial features after aging up: Big/tiny heads, eyes, and noses after aging up
