I had this issue. They were death by Laughter from the well in my game. For now everyone who has this issue a work around with cheats. Give them either drowning or fire with "cas.fulleditmode" after using "testingcheats on" since those are the only ghost traits they can have. This wishing well hasn't been updated with the redone ghosts. It's bugged at the moment. Console players I understand you don't want to turn on cheats. Right now this is the only work around I have found.

    Thank you! I changed the death type to Death by Fire and my child sim is a ghost again. I'm surprised that death by fire or death by water are the only two options for children. It feels more morbid than death by laughter. I'm going to miss my ghost child getting playful moodlets due to her death, she could make other Sims playful too and really added too my storyline. 😭
