How often does the bug occur? Just once so far (but the patch has been out for only 6 hours so...)
What is your current game version number? 1.108.318.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except for Batuu Game Pack and Castle Kit (Don't have Lovestruck and it's not out yet)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Uhm.. not sure... just happened out of the blue
What do you expect to see? Menus opening and game not freezing
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? No, mod folder is empty and enable custom content checkbox is off
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes, after the July 23 patch
Please describe the patch or change you made. Nothing worked... I had to close the game using Task Manager and lost my progress
More detailed description: After the patch I started playing for 2 or 3 hours and I was playing normally and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. But the game was laggy and not smooth and when it's like that, I have a habit of pressing Esc to open the menu constantly because sometimes it helps with the lag.
The menu was opening every time I pressed it until it didn't. I was still in live mode, I tried other menus... nothing opened.. the cart said something along the lines of "you have used everything or nothing for you here" or something... don't remember the pop up message. The helper Sim's drop down showed but NOTHING else opened. Even the gallery... even the menu using Esc... I tried switching to build and buy mode to see if anything changes, I successfully went there BUT now I couldn't go back to live mode... I guess you could say the game froze but ... not really FREEZING... since everything was moving and I could do stuff in Build/Buy mode... but... all the rest were as I described.
I have a trick when my game "freezes" so I won't lose my progress: i press windows key and try to close my game using the red X of the game window. When I do that, even when the game is completely frozen, the "Do you want to save and exit?" pop up message STILL shows up so I can choose to save and exit but it didn't happen this time and I could only close the game by force quitting it through task manager... I also waited a long time before I do that to no avail.
