Re: Install from DVD instead of download?

@davehugebf3,

I have figured out how to do this. Please follow the instructions below:

1. Load Origin.

2. Hover over the Battlefield 3 picture in your Games List and select the, "i" button.

3. Right Click the download status and select, "Cancel or Uninstall button."

The above will stop the download and clear the current information downloaded.

4. Minimize the Origin Client.

5. Insert the Battlefield 3 disc and exit out of the Autorun screen.

6. Go to, My Computer > Right click your DVD drive where the Battlefield 3 disc is located.

7. Select, "Open or Explore."

This is going to get you into the Battlefield 3 disc to view the installation files.

8. Double click on Setup.exe.

9. If Origin install pops up, exit out of that.

10. Select your language for the Battlefield 3 Installation.

11. Install from the disc.

Origin should pop up and show that it is installing from the disc. In previous versions of the Origin Client, it would say that it is "Downloading" even though it was installing from the disc but the latest version of the Origin Client should say, "Installing."

Hope this helps.

    Thanks for your work around.

I followed your instructions and got it working.

So now I can quickly (or quicker) install from the DVD's although I'll still have to wait for it to download the latest patches.

The guys on on the Livechat help kept telling me it was installing from the DVD even though it didn't look like it, but I'm not stupid it was obvious that my DVD drive was not running!

I am a bit surprised.. you see i practically had to gamble an already 3 GB download for the game to see if this actually worked, so i did...

the thing is its totally wrong when it comes to the instructions of downloading the game. I just had Origins already so i just followed  all the steps again and it is going much faster than before, the game is practically downloading at the speed of 5 MB/sec. i think you should change your instructions to help people save themselves from wasting their internet package.

I don't know if anyone will see this old thread but interestingly enough although the exact same issue is still a major problem years later not only is it not fixed or even changed but the aformentioned work around doesn't work for Dragon Age: Inquisition because the setup.exe is now only for origin.
