Field of view is the width of the viewing angle expressed in degrees. People who are motion sensitive need it to be wide or they get massive migraines. In some games, like Fallout 3, FOV is super narrow so that consoles would get a decent framerate. In this game, there is a FOV slider but it only affects multiplayer.
I just played for five minutes and the low FOV already made me sick. This is a serious problem.
Since I received this game as a gift, and I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, I'll try to find a solution for both the low FOV and low framerate cap in cutscenes. I really want to play this game, so I hope I find a solution soon.

I've played a number of games like this. So it didn't bother me that much. I got adjusted to it after I did a few campaigns. But I can understand why it might be bothersome to some people.

I'd say 99% of PC gamers today have large, widescreen monitors to enjoy and become immersed in the game. When a game locks down the Field Of View at something ridiculous like 60 or 70, the view in the monitor is so compressed it becomes sickening and unplayable...literally. So many games today offer the option of adjusting the FOV to one's liking - or at least offer the ability to change this setting in a config or console command. Without having this ability, as I said, this campaign is virtually unplayable on larger widescreen monitors.
Yes it's nice to have the option for MP, but I myself really enjoy playing the SP campaigns as well. I cannot enjoy it right now with this game. Very disappointing to spend money on something and have this problem.
The only workaround I know of at the moment is to play the game in windowed mode and reduce the vertical resolution so you have a wider view.
But it's definitely a shame that Visceral requires you to play in a window in order to not get sick.
