Re: Battlefield 4 language change

We are seeing a rising amount of contacts regarding Russian and Polish players wanting to exchange their Russian/Polish version of Battlefield 4 for an English copy of the game. This copy of the game that these players have purchased costs less than the English version, it does not have an English language track included on the install and this is working as intended. As such, you should under no circumstance exchange a Russian copy of the game for an English copy of the game.

    Dear EABarry,
Last time I checked the basic edition of BF4(without any DLC and on top of that also PL/RU region locked) from your companies own ORIGIN store costs us Polish customers 169 PLN, that's pretty much the same value as the 34 GBP that UK customers pay for their boxed retail version of the game from online stores like Amazon(including the China Rising DLC). People in the US usually pay around 59 USD for their retail copy according to Amazon, which is more expensive by a whooping 6 to maybe 8 bucks compared to what we have to pay to obtain the game legally from ORIGIN. I don't know exactly how much the game costs in Russia and tbqh don't care much because Russia is not Poland nor a part of the EU, what bothers me though is the fact that each time a bigger EA title is being published here in Poland it usually ends up to have the same silly region restrictions regarding the language selection as our eastern neighbors. I can understand that EA is trying to stop people from exploiting the price difference because it's not good for business, but why are we legit paying customers being punished for this with an horribly amateurish localized version of the game? Why are you treating people who pay your company their hard earned money not only like second grade customers but also like idiots?

I'm sorry however my game version did not state "incomplete" or "stripped features". Please do not blame marketing/retailers for the inability to push a button to enable users to switch their language.

    Not resolved.

  • @dudemanbroboss; It is resolved as far as EA is concerned. There is NO legitimate way to do this.

You can complain about their distribution policies and practices, but that's a different matter.
The OP's question has been answered completely.

Ok, but I have inverse problem, I have English version of the game (which costs more) and I want to change it to Russian, how do I do it?

So why we had no language version choice for different prices? I would pay extra just to get the original language.

Poland is European country, not Russian.

Can you elaborate as to why are Polish people able to use Russian but not English? I hope you folks are just trolling because this is unacceptable and not logical at all. Please correct this issue upstream, it is just a push of a button for you and better gaming experience for folks that have purchased this "incomplete" version of the game.

No one is trolling anyone. The AHQ is for "player-to-player" technical self-help and game-play discussions.

We're all just fellow gamers, doin' the best we can...

But regarding your (repeated) point, I thought EA-Barry explained it adequately in the [SOLUTION] post:

The version offered for sale in [LOCATION 1] has the language(s) that EA decided are appropriate for [LOCATION 1].

That decision may be made for legal reasons, (e.g. certain jurisdictions require certain languages to be offered, see QuĆ©bec) or for contractual ones, (e.g. certain distributors/retailers may enter into agreements with a publisher for certain versions at certain prices, like a lower price for a non-English one.)

The fact that [LOCATION 2] may have different language options is... a fact. That doesn't make any verison "incomplete".

You want another version?  Go to/have someone in a location where the version you want is sold, and buy it.

(Which is basically what sp0q said the Game Advisor agreed would work...)

I see that an EA employee has posted a reply in this topic, I will assume he is a player as well in this case.

I just wanted to try to find out the intention behind this decision. It looks like EA thinks Poland is still under Russian occupation (spoiler: it's not, for a good amount of years now) - there is no other explanation behind offering polish people the ability to play the game in Russian (makes no sense AT ALL). I understand that EA wants to be a hipster and doesn't want to give people what they want (see: all other game developers offering all languages in their games they have for the player to pick) nevertheless am curious about the reasoning - I doubt I'll see the reason here though, still worth asking.

See my original point. It's like you've given a spanish person chinese language as a bonus, makes sense, huh? (please note everyone else has their language ingame matching Origin language from what I am seeing, you know, the thing PL/RU people could do with BF3 editions but can't now).

No retailers have been informing people the game is "stripped" from the English language prior to release, I believe they didn't know as well which is rather funny.

Yes, Same here but i want it in Polish :/

  • Any news on this. I got BF3 to be in Polish but want BF4 as well. Live in US...

  • Well I got it to work. I downloaded the region free version and installed it on another hard drive. I took the polish language files and dumped them into my origin battlefield4 folder and updated the registry

So this is the type of BS we have to deal with, I live in Poland, got entire setup in english (system, browsers, games etc).

I just bought the game and when I start to play it, it's in freaking polish...I wouldn't mind but... when they give me free 48h to advertise the sale I did have all languages available.

At least they program to refund... anyway I guess there will be no more EA games for me since I'm bound to 1 language.

  • Why EA is treating Polish customers that bought their product legaly like thieves?

Price of BF4 in UK is the same as it is in Poland, so why do we get a "disabled" version of the game?

To your information Poland is not a part of Russia, not even a post Soviet republic. This country is is sovereign country of United Europe. And EA treats us as if they were totaly ignorant or oblivious to simple facts.

Have anyone seen movie "Pinguins of Madagascar"?

Then take the same actors that were dubbing pinguins and put it in Polish version of BF4.

Realy, my ears are bleeding when I hear that. It is pathetic.

If you EA have not enough of my money, then please release some kind of language DLC and I will buy it. Recomendation to purchase the whole game once again in EN are rather invalid, cause I already have bought the game, but the game is incomplete.

  • Its unbelievable !!!

I cant change to english version in BF4. How can it be ? Poland is one of biggest country in EU and why i'm forced to choose between russian ???? WTF ? and polish dubbing only (which is really, really bad)

Guys from EA doesnt know how european map looks like ? Just unbelievable.

Just make available worldwide option for us  right away!

The funniest thing is you can't buy completely legally english version of game in Poland. On Origin yo can only buy a version with polish and russian lanuages. Same with retail. I don't get it. Just because we have RIGHT to have cheaper game, we have to have game with LESS CONTENT? Because that's what happening. Polish voiceacting is a joke, even on trailers they speak in english, only polish subtitles appear. I have nothing against paying more for game with all content, but it's not even possible. wtf? No wonder EA got two times golden poo. Seriously, no other big company do this.

EA, people are asking for fair treatment, because the all fell cheated. We don't need German, Spanish or other languages. We also don't want s*itty Polish version. Why you just don't want to give us an English version, the only great one? If you must have your money, then allow us to pay more for Global key in Poland.

  • I have same issue with Russian version of game. I understand Russian and all, but I want game in "original" language.

I understand they have this because of price zoning and so that peeps from West don't exploit proxy to buy cheaper game (not really much cheaper anyway). But at least there should be option to buy language files for a fee like they have for different games (ex: Witcher 3).

  • I was thinking about going back to this game cuz i actually coudnt play it with that kind of bad quality polish dubbing thats destroyng the immersion. Its like you are putting money over your customers who loves your games but you are makn it impossible. Its sad. Thats why EA is where it is right now.

Please unlock english dubbing for other countries. This is unfrilendy thowards your customers. I wont play this game with forced polish dubbing. Same thing with Battlefront II. Wont buy another game form you with locked english dubbing. Please stop makn your customers feelin tricked in drity way cuz we were unaware of this while buyng the game. Start to be friendly cuz this is just sad ;(

I'm closing this thread to stop it being necroed.

If you have any issues with Battlefield 4 please make a new topic about the issues you are having and what kind of steps you have tried to solve it.
