no mouse input in BF3 after EA app release

Just got BF3 on PC and mouse input is not functioning. I've seen older questions about this, but the solution has been in Origin and does not apply for the new EA app. For multiplayer and campaign the mouse is not functioning in the menu, but fine in game and opposite in CO-OP.

    This tends to be an Overlay issue.

    If you use Discord, disable the Overlay -

     

    If the issue continues, try disabling EA App Overlay -

    I'm also having this issue...disabled the EA in-game overlay, steam overlay, and NVIDIA overlay. I don't have discord installed so no issue with an overlay there. Any thoughts?
