Could you also please share an EA app Error Report ID with us here in the thread? Steps can be found here on how to generate this ID.

  • If you cannot open the EA app, you can still generate an Error Report ID by following the steps mentioned underneath the section called "I can't open the EA app".

    I don't want to advertise VU (Venice Unleashed) here and I would have preferred it if EA had solved this problem on its own in the period of more than a month now. But they didn't and once again you could only hope and in this case count on the community. VU is a launcher similar to Northstar for Titanfall 2. Only with VU nothing is changed in the game itself and you can still start it without VU. You can even launch it from the EA app and from Steam just like the desktop shortcut. Unfortunately, it is not enough to just install the VU client to fix the activation error. In order to finally get rid of this, you have to start the VU client once with your EA user data in the "launch arguments" behind the .exe - in the link. Here is the point where everyone has to consider whether to enter them there. I reluctantly did it to try. It works and Battlefield 3 runs as described above.

    EDIT: Because of the password thing. I changed it after activation with the VU Client and everything still works.

  • EA app is in a running state. When I start the Battlefield 3 EA app tries to start again, it turns out the EA app starts 2 times. you can see it in the screenshot

    I saw that most people with this error asking for activation key occurs more by the units purchased on Steam.
    But I bought my game on physical media DVD and I'm having the same error.
    Anyone here bought the game directly from the ORIGIN / EA store and is having this problem or is it just who bought the game externally?
  • mostly those who bought in steam. but there are already players who have different types of purchases
