Re: Battlefield 4 DLC Assignment Unlocks Locked Ingame

It was reported that re-installing the DLC fixes all the issues related to assignments and weapons that were featured in it (well, Phantom Program may still be bugged, but it's a separate, unrelated issue that came up recently). This fix has a very high success rate, so you may want to try it out.

Thanks, that seemed to work. It may not have actually been a problem because all the DLC's had been erased when I was dealing with that corrupt BF4 1.15 update and had to delete the game data. With that, I did come across another problem with "Downloading in Background" on the PS3 not actually taking effect ingame, but that's almost certainly a Sony problem, or a problem that's just a result of my ignorance with the process.
  • Yeah, it's quite likely. This 1.15 update caued tons of issues. I'm pretty certain that an issue with malfunctioning DL'ing in background is caused by Sony... although I'm not a PS user, so I'm just guessing based on issue reports I've read.

Now I have to re-unlocked all the premium weapons again bc its showing tht I have not completed the assignments for the guns. Which I have. I mean **bleep** I have dog tags for getting 500 kills with these guns but now there locked again.

Idk what re-installing the dlc means. Please explain further for the slower folk. :-)
  • Yeah, you have to re-download the map packs to re-unlock the DLC weapons you've had before they got locked because of bug. I know, sounds odd, but that's how it goes.

By the way Kush, re-installing means that you install something once again even through you already had it. It usually is done when object of re-installation doesn't work as intended (sorry if this was unnecessary, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed at 3 AM). in case of PS3 the steps for re-downloading are:

    1. Sign in
    2. Go to account management
    3. then to transaction history
    4. then to download list
    5. from there you can re-download all the DLC you already purchased.

Things get tricky with PS4. Many people have issues with re-installing DLC on it. So far this method had the highest success rate:

    1. Delete the game you want to install DLC for from your HDD along with everything else including saves etc (backup to a usb or the cloud)
    2. Go to here: https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-ca/download/queue
    3. Log in
    4. Under the download queue find your DLC you want to install, select it and make sure your PS4 is on, it will start the download
    5. The download will finish and the installation will fail (This is okay) LEAVE THIS FAILED INSTALL ON YOUR DOWNLOAD LIST!
    6. Re-install the game, go back to the install list in notifications and select the failed install, it will successfully install
    7. Boot game and update it.

Well, here you have to reinstall the whole game. If game tells you that you don't have the DLC's after reinstalling BF4, follow the instructions from this thread: http://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/HOW-TO-Enable-Battlefield-4-DLC-s-after-reinstall-PC/td-p/2459232

Yep, it looks like I have suspected correctly: I'm just ignorant with the "Download in Background" process. Evidently when you download in background, it will produce a bubble with a picture of the downloaded item at the very bottom of the Game submenu when it needs to use game data (or something like that) to install. All you have to do then is just "click" on the bubble" to install it. While I was very well aware of these bubbles, I hit the '∆' button on the desired DLC bubble to view it's options menu and didn't even think about simply just selecting it with the 'X' button. While I have yet to try this, I'm quite sure (with my confidence in the internet, and my failure to try out this solution) that this is the case.

Ok. I will apologize beforehand and say that I do realize this is an EA forum, not a Sony forum, but in many cases ,like my case, these issues will be related. Anyways, here's the final conclusion for the two issues dealing with the PS3 "Download in Background" process:

For the Bubble/Download Not Taking Effect Issue:

If you download content in the background on PS3 and a bubble pops up under the "Game" submenu after it finishes downloading, you have to select it with the 'X' button to install the download. It doesn't always create a bubble; it only creates a bubble when the install needs to use Game Data (or something like that) or if there was an error in the download process. HOWEVER, if you try to access this menu while a game or other program is running (by hitting the PS button in the middle of a game, movie, etc.) this is NOT the case. In this case, if you hit the 'X' button, it will ONLY bring up install information and will NOT cue the install. You CANNOT be playing a game or running another program when you install content downloaded from the background; it WILL NOT let you.

For the Download Pending/Never Finishing Issue:

There are quite a few people that also have this issue, so I waill go ahead and post this as well, so we can all truely experience the luxury of the "Download in Background" process on the PS3:
When content is downloading in the background for PS3, the download WILL PAUSE ITSELF if the PS3 is being used to play online in a game, simply to play an EA game in some cases, or for a few other things that can be found on Playstation forums (sorry that I don't have a link). In this case, under "Account Management" where you find the progress of items downloading in background, it will say "Pending" instead of "Downloading" next to the item and download percentage. Although I am not to sure, I think it will take a minite or two to resume downloading once one of the processes listed above ceases, because obviously you can't be playing a game, much less online, when you view items under "Account Management".

Are you on the Leaderboard map page on the full site, such as on a desktop computer? I'm looking at the skull as we speak.
