@CloudMcRipSo because everyone can use cheats if they want, they must be fine?
Just because everyone has the option to use a 'thing', that doesn't necessarily justify its exsistance.
And yes, this function would essentially make every weapon an automatic even if the fire rate is limited, it is still an automatic, in fact it is the very definition of an automatic - pull and hold trigger, gun fires till empty or jams!
People cheat by using macros to auto fire semi automatics and now you want to make them legit?
No, it will be abused.
Again there is no abusing. When the function is available to everyone this can't be abused. It doesn't change the speed of the weapon because there is still the animation and the recoil effect. It just change your own input from pressing a button to hold a button. It would be still the same speed as would you press as fast as you can the button.
In other words how can it be "abused" ?
Sorry I don't see a valid point where it can be abused.

No and Yes. The "soldier/specialist" does the "half-automatic" part while you the player inputs it "automatic" by just "holding" the button. So technically it is still a half automatic rifle or pistol that is shooting.
These "macros" are already at least for that one controller "legit" because this controller meets the standard and recieve it parts from Sony Playstation directly and got certified. That's one (next to comfortable, accessability) of the reasons why a few titles already trending to give games a "hold" instead of "smash" a button option.

Answer: I don't want that people cheat by using macros, but the one official licensed controller (Piranha FX) that didn't got banned from EA games for over 6 years since it's existence does tell/show me that *these macros* (for this one controller) aren't that bad to needed banned. They are addressed but since it is an officially licensed product it is legit otherwise it wouldn't be "licensed".
Back to topic:
I want the optional "auto-shooting" (short: holding RT/R2/Left Mouse to shoot a semi weapon automatic ) for:
- comfortable useage
- this will cause a longer playtime even if it's a small percentage
- long durability of controller (holding a button would reduce the wear and tears about over 50% so if a "controller" holds 1 year it would hold for 2 years by a daily usage.
- the long durability would also come good for our environment
- it gives a better accessability to disabled players or older people by an easier access to the shooting genre
- No abusing unfair "semi fire" macros anymore, just ingame options > game > auto shooting ON and everyone can do it
