Re: Hardcore is not possible in 2042 - constructive criticism to fix this.

@CriscoCube Once the private severs were released for BFV they had Hardcore servers. 125%, 150%, 200% bullet damage and you could adjust other options. Reality is the HC player base is about 10% of the community. And nobody can agree on just exactly which settings make up HC and are so abusive and childish regarding the settings. Take the reload full mags option, people will boycott the game over this setting alone.

So DICE have just washed their hands of the whole mess had given us portal so we can sort it out because it's impossible for them to do it.

  • Yea people want different settings sometimes, so a standard can be difficult. This is far more basic than a conversation about if you want to play HC or not. Many of the same issues spread far past just HC as well but are just as if not more problematic for creating a HC mode.

If you don't like HC then don't play it, just like I won't play normal mode. That isn't the problem though. I think it is fair to assume that a primary idea of Portal is to allow players to make custom game modes. Hardcore is the most obvious basic custom game mode, so obvious its included in most BF games and most other FPS games even.

Super basic options that you need to make any version of HC are missing. I listed the most crucial ones already but for example, having no ability to implement a TK limit means someone can join the server and just blow away the friendly team ruining the entire game as long as he wants until the ONE admin joins, and you better hope that admin joins the right team since there is no kill feed, no all chat and no ability to add other admins....

A team kill limit are not possible for any HC mode except FFA and TDM since the logic editor isn't available. Many other very important settings I described are also not available... so the whole Portal being able to make a mode how you want isn't really viable even for super basic modes like say hardcore rush or hardcore conquest.

That doesn't make even the slightest bit of sense mate. All they have to do it make it an "OPTION" in the portal settings. Don't want to play on a server that has said HC settings that literally every BF4 HC fan expects, then join/make a new portal server. Why on earth are we in favor of FEWER options when it comes to player choice? That's ridiculous. Even if Hardcore fans are only 10% of the fandom, why not please that 10% by giving them the ability to make faithful recreations by simply opening up the logic editor. It's up to each individual player to choose whether to join and play in a server or not. Taking away potential game creation options that don't have to be used because it might make a group of the fandom salty is frankly a comically bad take.

@Stormblessed_Wit @i I have to agree, @ShevermiN @ defending of the decision to not incldue basic configuration choices makes absolutely zero sense. Something like the option for full mag reload is a miniscule amount of effort compared to everything else, and the finishing touches of options like this in portal are what will make it shine... leaving out so many of the last little details cripples what it could become... its like they went 70% of the way and just stopped, hopefully its just because they ran out of time and the devs will take our input and add these options to portal and really make it become a tool to really make some fun modes for people.
