Found a way to increase my fps with cpu bottleneck!

Hey I also made this post about this on Reddit, so I'm just gonna copy paste it here. https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/qy9vm3/how_to_increase_cpu_optimizing_performance_with/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Following is a copy paste from my post on reddit:

RTX 3060Ti + R7 3700x + 16gb 3200mhz ram here.

Tried every single tip in here and YouTube.  Nothing helped me to get a higher framerate. My friend said he tried to change to boarderless and it helped him. So I thought I would try. (Config file has dx12 enabled and shadowquality on 0 both on full-screen and boarderless).

The other settings I've also done is:
Open console and type these BEFORE you go into a game AND AFTER you have joined a game:
- PostProcess.DofMethod DofMethod_None
- RenderDevice.RenderAheadLimit 3
- Render.resolutionscale 1
- Type raytrace and 3 commands will come. Put 0 for all.

Again - It should be in boarderless not full-screen.

I was getting:
- 55-75 fps in AOW.
- 85-95 fps in HZ.
- 80-90 fps in Portal.
- Everything low on 1440p.

Changed it from full-screen to boarderless (remember to restart!)

Now getting following in the same maps:
- 75-90 fps in AOW (rarely it hits 95-100 fps).
- 105-125 fps in HZ.
- 100-115 fps in Portal.
Still everything low 1440p.

Here is some proof for the increased fps. I don't have before pictures but trust me it was really bad (see my older posts asking for tips) everyone knows how unoptimized the game is. You guys can even check a video I posted if you go into my profile. I had like 23 fps on low. So here is my fps after the settings.

- 120 fps in Kaleidoscope map HZ Mode:

- 113 fps in BFC2 Portal:

- 90 fps in AOW Renewal:

But guys it may not work for everyone but I hope it can help some of you. Please keep me updated if it worked.

One last thing: RESTART Battlefield 2042 every 2 games as this game has memory leaks.

Thank you for reading!

  • Hey just an update. I updated visual c++ and it feels like it made the game more smooth without increasing the normal fps. Maybe it increased the 99% fps.

  • That's a placebo effect bro, i tested all and much more than the YouTube Videos claiming that they have the fix, the devs have to work on this game, we can improve it a bit yes but it suffers from massive cpu bound problems, i have a Core i9-7980XE 18C/36TH and it just uses 8C from all, moreover i have an RTX 3090 running at 2130 Core and 22404 mem water cooled and as you can imagine it can run whatever game maxed out with rtx on. Hope they fix it, games looks great, it's super fun but suffers from the same issues as BF1 and BF5.

  • I try it but when i want do in console set raytrace command to 0 answer "false" but i have still low fps and more cpu usage instead of gpu in menu everything ok but in game drops fps drops gpu usage

  • thanks a lot.... now its running much smother 🙂

Not perfect but for now its ok....

Before my CPU was nearly always in the red / orange range, now this happens much less often.

    My rig:
    AMD 3960X (24/48C), RTX 2080 TI, 32 GB RAM
