Portal or Servers Broken and Chat is Broken, Wi-Fi Driver Issue
I’m experiencing several issues with Battlefield 2042 on Steam that appear to match what other players have previously reported in the EA forums: BF2042 Portal - Totally broken.. no Portal "game session is not available" | EA Forums - 13203199 Connection failed battlefield 6 Error code 0:85008S:468882297O:0Q | EA Forums - 13203169 Game session undavailable 11:3401j:1106i:7748441280:131076q | EA Forums - 6978401 1. Player count not updating on portal The player count appears to be stuck and does not change I first noticed this yesterday and again today; the numbers have remained exactly the same on both days 2. Can't Choose Maps? On the official matchmaking options, there is no way to choose specific maps Please add a map selection option, and provide better visibility of available servers so players can choose where to play, including for Quick Play Additionally, the matchmaking queue often takes a very long time while waiting for a game to start on this only 1 option, so the alternative solution is to look on portal servers 3. In‑game chat not working or broken The in‑game chat is not appearing, I cannot see other players’ messages? I initially thought this was a settings issue on my side, but after checking my settings and testing, the problem persists, last 2025 mid - year -> I have no issues on this, so I was wondering why it is not showing and I thought it was a new feature or something, but it seems to be broken I tested Battlefield 6 on the same system, and chat works there normally. This issue seems specific to Battlefield 2042 on Steam 4. Splahscreen crashing and games not launching
After 6 months i finally managed to find a way to fix my EA app. If anyone is having issues when launching a game and after the splashscreen the ea app just pops back up and the game doesnt launch, i juts found a fix. I used Windows key + R then typed services.msc and went into properties on the EA Anticheat service and changed the mode from manual to automatic.Ping issues
Game was fine before the update running around 10ping now it will randomly jump to 100+ CPU usage has gone up but I’ve resolved that issue but game still rubber bands. I’ve cleared shader cache reinstalled drivers and added user.config settings but game is basically unplayable still. This is especially noticeable on certain maps like contamination. on top of that there’s some other bugs like all weapons displaying zero until you click into them. Spawning under floor and then snapping back to surface. Edit now I can’t connect to online service
BF2042 Disconnects PC from Internet
Hey guys, I receive the error code ‘1:3300J:1502I:-891751198O:0B’ every time I launch the game. Surprisingly, the game completely disconnects my PC from my router (or its internet service). Please watch the screen recording I provided below. It only takes two and a half minutes. The left command prompt is pinging google.com, and the upper right is pinging the BFV server. Notice they both went timeout when the game started, and I checked my chrome by loading google.com, and it says ‘DNS PROBE FINISHED NO INTERNET.’ As soon as the game was closed, everything became normal. In addition, when the game launches and closes, there is a device connection and disconnection sound. Not sure if that is related to the problem. All drivers are up to date, and I have already reinstalled windows multiple times, but this problem persists. I’m not sure if this is a bug or if 2042 is messing up something in the background. My laptop is Alienware X14 with i7-12700H, RTX 3060, 32GB LPDDR5, and Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211. Please help if possible. Thanks a lot!
Let’s Fine-Tune Air-Ground Balance for Better Parity
Shoutout to the absolute beasts who can pilot choppers or jets with insane precision—those 50+ kill streaks are impressive and showcase real skill. That said, aircraft often hold a massive, lopsided advantage over ground forces. I get the logic: control the skies, control the battlefield. But when one great pilot farms the lobby unchecked, it discourages infantry play and sours matches. Credit where due: skilled flying should be rewarded. But we can level the playing field slightly without nerfing pilots into irrelevance—making them work harder for those god-tier runs. A few targeted tweaks worth considering: Lower the minimum altitude for lock-on weapons — Right now, aircraft can hug the deck to break locks too easily. Dropping that threshold a bit would reward pilots who stay high and maneuver smartly, while giving shoulder-fired options (Stingers, etc.) more consistent windows against low-flying harassers. Extend flare cooldowns meaningfully — Flares already recharge, but compare that to ground vehicles (tanks reloading shells take forever) or support players restocking grenades/smoke grenades. A longer refresh would force pilots to manage cooldowns more carefully, use terrain/cover, or risk getting punished during downtime—without removing their escape tool entirely. Buff stationary AA (spawn-based flak/AA guns) — Increase effective range and damage/lethality so they actually threaten aircraft that get too bold near objectives or spawns. This gives teams passive tools to contest airspace without relying solely on mobile AA or dedicated engineers. Reduce lock-on times or acquisition range for ground AA launchers slightly — But pair it with higher damage on hit or faster projectile speed. This makes skilled pilots (who break locks with maneuvers) still dominant, but gives average players a better shot at contributing to takedowns—rewarding quick locks without making it too easy to spam. These changes wouldn’t dethrone great pilots—they’d just demand even sharper decision-making, better positioning, and teamwork (e.g., coordinating with friendly air or ground AA). Top flyers would still shine, but the average match would feel less one-sided when an ace joins.
BF6's Release Broke BF2042's Portal Editor
Since BF6's release I have been unable to access BF2042's Portal Editor, the website has me in a loop of signing in and sending me back to the BF6/BF2042 Portal Editor selector, or sometimes simply not signing me in and putting me in the 2042 Portal Editor with none of my experiences saying "Unable To Retrieve Your Experiences". I'm unsure if this is an issue everyone is facing, but I just wanted make everyone aware that this is happening. I've been working on some BF2042 projects that I would like to finish and I'm sure this issue will be fixed eventually if it isn't already.Connection failed battlefield 6 Error code 0:85008S:468882297O:0Q
Looking for some help problem solving an intermittent error I'm getting 0:85008S:468882297O:0Q I'll be mid game and I will suddenly disconnect from the server and then reconnect but booted from the game about 15/20 seconds later. Sometimes it causes discord to go out, sometimes it does not. My internet connect monitor records no loss of internet connection and as noted sometimes I can keep a perfect discord connection. Other times I can quickly tab out and load up a youtube video or other webpage no problem so I don't think its my internet connection. Some days it doesn't happen at all. Often its just once a session. Today it happened like 4 times in 2 hours. No other impact on play. So far I have tried restarting my computer when it happens but that does not always solve the problem like today. My nvidia drivers are up to date and have a relatively new PC with a i7 14700k and an RTX 4060Ti. Any help troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated. After I post this I will likely start a reinstall.
