Re: Game Freeze/Crash since 18/10/22

I just started BF2042 and waited in the menu for all the content. So that everything was loaded, which of course took a while. Then started Conquest 128 players and played 6 rounds without any problem !?! Normally I got since the update ALWAYS at the first game the slow motion and then the crash. ALWAYS have to reboot the PC so that BF2042 starts at all afterwards. Today, since the update, as described above, the first day without crash or slow motion. I am still in the game and also do not think that it crashes again today. Very strange and hopefully it stays that way now. Am firmly convinced that the problems come from the servers or the netcode since the update is live.

    My temporary fix

    1. Delete cache files. Go to Documents>Battlefield 2042>Cache Delete everything here
    2. Rollback Nvidia driver to 517.48
    3. Delete and uninstall EA Desktop App
    4. Reinstall Origin and use to this one instead.
    5. Verify / Repair game installation files.

    It works now, but knowing DICE games, the problem might just come back again and with every game update without fail, there will be new problems. 

    Guaranteed. It's like their Target of Achievement.

    I went back to playing Battlefield V today and had great fun. Makes me realize just how much Dice messed up with 2042. The specialists are a rubbish idea, bring back proper classes. Not sure I am coming back to 2042 even of they fix it.

    @Putsy_Slayer its not but its marked as fixed so they could be not even working on it as high priority for months
    As it only infects pc players that are majority of bf2042 players while console players have no problems same for theyr auto aim controllers.

    Change the graphics quality settings randomly when you first open the game. Once the round starts, set it to the settings you want. 

    If it freezes, repeat the same process again, this time there will be no problem.

    @Chalupagobbler, the problem most described in this thread started prior to the 2.2 release.  A roll back won't fix the very random slo-mo to freeze issue.

    you can just roll back further.  i know users said it stared a week before the update.  I know the issue is that some users paid for DLC and if they roll it back they might have to deal with Support Calls and refunds, the other option is to try to fix it, and we are at 2 weeks now and they are just removing Skins thinking that users with certain skins on the map are starting to load and causing the hang and breakage.  Thats just pulling straws trying to fix it.  Just roll back and start over.

    I've been doing mod testing in portal using bots which obviously don't have the new skins and its doing the same thing.

    Today, i started fresh, went into every menu hoping that by loading them up it would cache everything properly, let everything settle, started the standard 128 player conquest map, and dead instantly.  Had zero lockups in BF3 & 4 over the weekend.
