Controller acting like mouse

I downloaded BF2042 on steam before I realized I could use my ea Xbox account on pc to be able to have all my progress on my PC as well. So I downloaded bf2042 through the ea play app on my PC. Game launches and works fine, but when I plug my controller in it acts like a mouse for some reason and the right analog stick controls my cursor. This didn't happen through steam so idk why it's happening now but it's very frustrating. I've tried restarting my PC, unplugging and plugging controller in, and it's done nothing. Idk what else to do but I'd like to be able to play with my Xbox controller. This is literally the only game I have this issue with. Apex works fine, although I play apex through steam not the ea app. Please help
