So, some success. As I stated before, running 100% CPU load (~95% BF 2042 and ~5% background). Game was crashing, couldn't play more than a few minutes, overheated CPU and VRM MOS. These always ran hot when I pushed the components anyway. So, since I noticed my RAM freq. was set at 2133, and rated at 3000, I set the RAM to 3000 in the BIOS in hopes that would increase data speed and efficiency. PC would not start, endless loop. Cleared CMOS (for the first time since I've owned this machine BTW), loaded optimized defaults, and set XMP profile. Machine started with a RAM freq. of 3000. Also, my thermal issue corrected.
So there was a BIOS update a while back that corrected the voltage to my I9-9900K (lowered it to prevent overheating). I had updated the BIOS, but never cleared the CMOS. I didn't realize, even with all the years I've been messing with PCs that you need to clear the CMOS in order to effect the new BIOS. Anyways, the game is still running at about 95% CPU load, but no crashing or overheating. I normally run the game at 1080P since I can utilize 120hz max through my AVR, and am limited to 60hz at 4K because of the AVR.
Game is now running better than ever! I've seen up to 97% GPU load now at 1080P and 1440P (I did try it), and huge FPS increase! Finally using that RTX 3080TI to it's potential!
I feel better I am not the only person with this problem but maaan that's a lot of hoops to jump. I uninstalled the game as well as the EA app and will continue to not play EA games. I had these issues when Apex first came out as well. What a disappointment yet again. Thanks EA. Hope you guys have better luck.
Same issue here, my machine with start of Season 3 is running under full load. I can hear fans being extra loud and really working at max speed. Before season 3, my CPU was not nearly used as it's now. I do not know what was my usage before because I never heard my fans being so hard at work. So CPU was not under such load. Now with fans being louder and CPU usage on 100% even on start of the game and just being in main menu. I am avoiding to play the game. Currently I'm playing Warzone 2.0 and my machine is not struggling at all.
This ain't good optimization chief !

- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@Foxfort you could use USER.CFG (check forum for howto)
This did improve (for other people) performance and less loud fans cause cpu is sharing workload better with other cores !!! - ŠŠ/Dice shouldn't be doing battlefield anymore, pass it on to another company! Failure after failure, how can they not be ashamed to continue, I just wonder what kind of people they are...
Holy smoke, you were right. With user.cfg my machine is now running better, 70-80% usage instead of 100%
By the way, I've uploaded dxdiag for CM
What should my user.cfg be for a i7-11700k? I made one but cpu load still spikes and get those input lag. Maybe Iām not filling it out right. Any help would be appreciated

could you share your user.cfg please ! @Rokebo73Thread.ProcessorCount 8
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 10
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0RTX 3080 12gb
DDR4 3600 32gb Ram
MSI Z590 Mobo
@Rokebo73I read that article, just don't really know the numbers I should put down?
Thread.ProcessorCount 8
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 13
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0Thread.ProcessorCount 8
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 10
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0^^was what I had before and still saw CPU spikes and input delay? So should I be LOWERING or INCREASING that second number?
I hope a fix is found soon, cause I really don't want to damage anything by doing these CPU edits
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@RiggletsTTV yeah , but ya need to test it, remember , not all threads for game, cause windows is also running and other processes, try fail and test will bring a solution !
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@RiggletsTTV you wont damage anything, als is secured, incase of overheating system / game will shutdown.
Incase of wrong values, system will crash and reboot.
A good airflow / cooling is a must with and without user.cfg, it can be a bottleneck also , throttle cpu/gpu ect ect ect ! @RiggletsTTVMy CPU has 6 cores and 12 threads.
So I used values:
Thread.ProcessorCount 6
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 6
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 12
And the game is running with average ~77 % usage, rarely goes above 80%.
EDIT: Now I believe it's running with same usage as before S3, but can't really verify as I was not paying attention to CPU usage prior to S3. There was no need for me before to monitor it.I have the same issue in Season 3. My question is why are we the people that play the game that we paid for trying to fix this? EADICE should be on it ASAP and furthermore why after the game has been out for over a year are there still huge show stopper issues like this when they release seasons? My patience is being tested with this game......

@Foxfortgot some info
If you have 6/12 thread CPU - Thread.ProcessorCount 12 & Thread.JobThreadPriority 12
If you have 4/8 thread CPU - Thread.ProcessorCount 8 & Thread.JobThreadPriority 8
(Its the same for 8/8 thread CPUs # 9700k)
If you have 8/16 thread CPU - Thread.ProcessorCount 16 & Thread.JobThreadPriority 11 or 16 (not sure here.Havent test this.JobThreadPriority max should be 11 anyway. It might not have a difference)
If you have 4/4 thread CPU - Thread.ProcessorCount 4 & Thread.JobThreadPriority 4
You can set the two comands 12/12 or 8/8 but it will use 12/11 or 8/7 & so on. If not set properly you could have very low FPS. For ex. 12 on both comands while have 4 core CPU is bad. Ideally Thread.JobThreadPriority should be 1 less than the number of your CPU threads. 11 is maximum. You can check it with this comand: Render.DrawScreenInfo 1Thread.ProcessorCount 4 - Depends on how many Threads yor CPU have. For 4 cores with Hyperthreading/Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) type 8 on both comands.Thread.JobThreadPriority 4 - you need this as high as possible, Check with Render.DrawScreenInfo 1. 4 core CPUs can have 4 max. - @Rokebo73 Well i actually don't know what commands mean, I just presumed that Thread.ProcessorCount means how many cores i got and not how many total Threads my CPU has. Although thread is in there in command.
In my case did only allowed 6 threads to be used?
What does GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount mean? - Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Foxfort What does GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount mean? =
the ammount of cores that will be used for BF2042About Thread.ProcessorCount & Thread.JobThreadPriority commands. The value is your CPU thread number. My 7600k have 4 cores 4 threads so I put 4. Yours might be 6, 8, 12, 16 or more depending on your CPU.
For RenderDevice.RenderAheadLimit 1 for lower input lag, 2 is a nice middle between slightly more fps & lower input lag. A lot of info you've thrown into there, got me confused.
So in my case out of 12 threads I've limited game to 6 threads and it works pretty well. This depends on user's CPU specs, so people should play around with values and find the balance.
So I presume game now gives each core one thread to deal with. I hope at least that's why it performs much better now.
From what I understood, we should not set same amount of threads as maximal amount of threads our CPU has. But at least 1 thread less out of our total number of threads.
Thanks for help with this !
EDIT 2: I've tested as well with threads 8 and 10 and I've noticed with 8 i get ~85% CPU usage, with 10 i get 95-100%. While i did noticed a few more FPS with more threads, overall on my end using 6 threads out of 12 threads gives me best balance of performance and CPU usage, ~77%. I've used Windows Task Manger to monitor this, since it's on my second screen.- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Foxfort thats correct, ya just need to test what is the best core ammount for your system !
And if ya play around with XMP / DOCP then ya can get more or less performance.
Max hz is not always the fastest setting , its a combo of cpu (cores) / memory and gpu !!
Have fun , Game On !!!!
Ps a second screen takes also some FPS , i believe +/- 15fps !For more performance only 1 screen is the best option !!
Thank you so much @Rokebo73 for this tweak with CPU, Game is now correctly split between all cores. I can't believe why it's not used by default.
Edit : We can use this tweak for all Battlefield game (like V & 1 ?) Battlefront II too ?
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace
@frank_le_tank_BE Yes also for BF V.
I dont know if battlefront supports a USER.CFG , try it and you will see !
Everyone Post your User.cfg with brand and type of cpu ya use ! so others could take info (or use it) for/at their system.
But remember , best settings are done by your self , each cpu, mem , gpu is different , so its possible you need a whole new setting/approach with your user.cfg

Are you using any software with an overlay? No
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Game Menu
In which game menu were you when the bug occurred? Any and All
Please select your region North America
On which server did this happen? all?
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) when season 3 started
Summarize your bug my CPU shoots to 100% usage and my game computer lags. making using my computer much less playing the game near impossible. I've tried changing my setting and nothing helps . I've looked online and it seems like I'm not the only one having this problem. Prior to season 3 I had no issues playing this game on ultra or high setting. Now I can press the D key, let go and watch my character go right for 5 seconds.
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? playing in a game any map. I checked an as soon as I turn on the game my cpu is maxed out.
What happens when the bug occurs? I lag alot and my cpu is maxed out.
What should be happening instead? my cpu should be alt maybe 50%-60%ā
I would add a video or a screen shot but with the game on I don't have any processing power to record with so...
Please help,
Thank you.

Beforehand all the other tricks did nothing and I'd be able to maybe get away with one match. Now I've been able to play for hours with no crashes even when I inadvertently left Chrome open with multiple tabs!!!
DICE might need to really put the word out about this one. Just in case I still underclock my card (-100). So far two days in a row and I'm good. Just wish I had found this trick before bothering with purchasing MW2 out of desperation.
