Re: The Question of Aim Assist

I'm on console and I turn the aim assist down somewhat because I find it can make it difficult to get headshots on its default setting.

In terms of whether its OP, I think the aim assist might be a bit intense (I mean I do turn it down), but its pretty much where it should be.

Normally I play xbox series x against ps5 / pc players and get mid-range to top third on the scoreboard.

Yesterday playing with friends against xbox one and ps4 I got first in every match and had a KD of 5:1 in some matches.

This has been a pretty consistent experience where if I play current gen / pc then I will do ok which is what I expect, whereas if I play against old gen I'm basically the terminator.

My point is the skill ceiling against PC players is a lot higher whether that be as a result of mouse and keyboard, or PC players just being better fps players.

To counter that you need an aim assist which is pretty forgiving.

I like where it is currently at -

console players who aren't as good, play with aim assist on full bore,

console players who are getting better turn down the aim assist

console players who can't get kills with the current forgiving aim assist need to get better

I haven't played BF on pc since BF4 but I would imagine a middle of the road player on pc would absolutely annihilate a console player if there was no handicap, or even if the handicap was slightly reduced.

I may install BF2042 on PC just to test this out.
