Blurry UI text in every Battlefield game

Hello

I have been experiencing an issue, where in every Battlefield game I own (4, 1, V, 2042, also SW Battlefront 2) every UI text element looks blurry or low resolution. Other UI elements look sharp like they should. This issue does not appear in some other EA games like Jedi Survivor. My main monitor is a 27" 1440p @180hz monitor, and my second monitor is 27" 1080p @144hz. When I switch the game to the 1080p monitor, the game looks absolutely normal. My in game resolution is set to 2560x1440 in the settings and the local config file. Issue persists with DLSS and resolution scaling on or off. This issue first appeared a few weeks ago, a few days after getting my new LG Ultragear 1440p monitor.

System specs: Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB 6000MHz RAM, RTX 3080 10GB, game installed on a Kingston Fury Renegade 2TB with over 200 GB of free space. I'll provide more specs if needed.

I am using the Ultra settings preset

Things I've tried while troubleshooting:

Reinstalling my GPU drivers using DDU (both rolled back and installed newer versions)

Repairing game files 3 times

Reinstalling the game

Turning off DLSS or dynamic resolution scaling

Monitor OSD shows current display resolution as 2560x1440

Unplugging my secondary monitor and restarting my computer with it still unplugged

Resetting all settings in Nvidia control panel

What should I do to fix this?

Thank you

  • @skesonen  hey man.
Could you enter specific details from youre monitor please in here ?
Do ya use hdmi or a DP cable?
Do ya use the cable that was included in the box from monitor or other ?
Does youre monitor need a firmware update ?
Made any changes in menu of monitor ?
Is monitor running in energy mode?
Did change DPI scale in windows settings and use the recommended  settings ?

    please update us, cheers !

  • Hey @Rokebo73

My monitor is an LG Ultragear 27GP850P, and my secondary monitor is an AOC G27G1.

At first I used my old DP cable which came with the AOC monitor in 2019, but now after you replied, I tried the one that came with the LG and it didn't help.

I'm not sure how to check my monitors firmware version as it does not show it in the OSD "Information" tab. It only shows current resolution and power on hours.

I tried resetting my monitors settings to default, didn't help.

Disabled "smart energy saving" mode, didn't help.

Scale is set to 100% (recommended) in Windows display settings

    Thank you

  • @Rokebo73 I'm unable to install the LG OSC program. Every time I open the installer as admin nothing happens. I've tried downloading from different sources but no luck so far

  • Also, I got this monitor around 3 weeks ago. The first week of using this monitor it worked perfectly even in Battlefield.

I have a feeling that it's not caused by my monitor as everything else from weapon models to the maps look sharp as they should. The only thing looking fuzzy is the text and only the text. My guess is that it's some kind of scaling issue on behalf of the games or Windows.

@skesonen did ya set ingame settings to default already ?
Also reset Nvidia/adrenaline gpu driver settings in windows.
Reset also one more time the monitor (so no overdive or whatever is active)
Delete bf2042 cache also , find it at C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local
Make sure ya use the cable that was in the box with the monitor (is most compatible).
Make sure windows resolution is set at the BUILT-IN from windows, 32bits.
Deactivate HDR if it is enabled.

Reboot system and test game (beaware it need to redownload new CACHE files).

    Cheers
