Re: Next battlefield.

I for one will definitely buy the next Battlefield as I am not pragmatic and don't categorically say that I won't give EA any money -- but here are of course some conditions for this statement to be true.

I will say however that I have definitely learnt my lesson from the BF2042 and I can with 100% certainty say that I will not believe in ANYTHING any trailer or announcement shows. I will NOT get hyped. I will NOT preorder. Nor will I purchase upon release, but only after some early adapters (NOT Youtubers!) will play the game and verify that it is:

1) working without any major game breaking bugs (so, in all liklyhood not directly after release) and
2) contains essential core features a Battlefield game has to have to make it worthy of the name, like:

  • classes
  • server browser
  • a map rotation
  • squad management
  • all chat
  • scoreboard
  • acceptable performance on top-end hardware
  • working mouse input (WHY do I have to even put this here?)
  • a decent amount of content at release or at least pre-release statement of how many maps per time
  • the list goes on of course and I feel strange to feel the need to even list those essential basic things

There are other things that are optional, but that I would certainly hope for, as for instance permanent game mode(s) with less than 100 players (preferable to me would be 48 or 64 player Conquest or 32 player Rush). But if the strict requirements in my list above are fulfilled, I would still purchase the next BF title. But ONLY then. And I hope I will not be alone...

Yep if the next BF includes all the above essential core features and plays well during the beta then I would also purchase it, but it is a BIG IF isn't it.
