I have had Dead Space installed on my comp for about a year, I tried loading it up for the first time today and it seems the game has somehow become broken. The initial "cinematic" plays all the way through to the start of the game, when the rigs are being synced up I notice that my rig shows no health and once the cinematic is over I die. The game automatically reloads after this and I sit through the cinematic once again, this time my health appears like normal and the game seems to function properly.
I only notice that my flashlight does not follow my targeting reticle when aiming. Later after I get the first weapon I fight a necromorph, I shoot it's leg off, then both of it's arms, and then it's head the body is still alive after all of that now I shoot it 3-4 more times and it finally dies (this is happening on normal difficulty). Now I've gotten the stasis module and I get to the part where you have to repair the tram, I notice then that I cannot vertically aim my stasis shot, I can aim directly at my feet, press C and the shot does not go downwards instead it shoots straight forward. Pistol shots will fire wherever the reticle is but the stasis shots will not, nor will the telekinesis shot, and nor with the flashlight even stay on my reticle. What makes it a game breaker is that I happen to know that there is a level later in the game where you have to shoot the telekinesis downward to grab a gondola that you need to progress further, now it is impossible.
I did notice after I exited the game after giving up the first time that Windows Firewall had blocked the game from connecting to the internet. I tried installing/ uninstalling through Origin, but that didn't do anything. Maybe it's something in the registry that isn't right?
