Hey everyone,
Thanks for reaching out about this.
Like Tempest667 mentioned in their post above, unbinding the controller buttons mapped in the Controls options has been helping with this in most cases. If you haven't already, please give that a shot and see if it helps.
I'd also like to mention that I'm having another bug where everytime I open the menus, the weapon fires!
The fix that EA_Kent mentioned worked for me! Try unbinding the console keys!
@EA_KentI also have this issue, as well as the issue where if I close a menu (Tab or Escape) my gun shoots upon exiting.
How do I unbind the controller buttons mapped in the Controls options?
If I click on a controller button to "remap" it sits there waiting for input and no keyboard keys I press work (I assume because it's expecting a controller input) and I'm stuck in the remap screen waiting for it to press a button on a controller (yes I've tried the Escape and Delete keys, as well as every other key on the keyboard). I have to force close the game to do anything at this point.
I've also tried the force Keyboard and Mouse option with no luck.
Here is my system info in case there is a pattern with those experiencing this...
Mouse: Logitech G Pro X Superlight (Wireless)
Keyboard: Corsair K100 (Wired)
OS: Windows 11 (Latest 22H2 *)
CPU: Intel 11900k
GPU: Nvidia 3090
As an avid Dead Space fan, this issue makes the game unplayable in my opinion. This needs to be escalated.
Edit: Forgot to mention, this is with the Steam - Deluxe version. I've checked Steam Properties for the game and ensured Controller is set to "Disable Steam Input" (It wasn't by default) and restarted the game.To everyone else having this issue, I figured out how to clear the controller key-bindings as @EA_Kent mentioned earlier in the thread. I've tested and confirmed this does resolve the following issues:
- Cannot Sprint (default [SHIFT])
- Cannot Melee (default [F])
- Weapon shoots when exiting menu screens ([ESC] or [TAB])
1) Press [ESC] key to open the game menu
2) Navigate to "Settings > Controls > Control Customization"
3) Mouseover OR use the UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT keys to highlight the FIRST column (out of 3) in each row.
4) When the column is highlighted, press [T'] on the keyboard and you will see the previous value change to '--'. Do this for each row that it will allow you to clear. Not all rows can be cleared (for whatever reason).
5) Press the [ESC] key and then [ENTER] to accept changes OR click "ESC Exit" and then "Save Changes"
6) Press [ESC] OR Click "ESC Exit" to exit out of the menu.
No. It didn't help. Requested and received Steam refund. Fix your game.
- @Balkerz After 2 hours of trying everything I could think of your solution fixed my problem. I have a Razer mouse and game pad.
It did not help me. Fix the bug, please. I have a mouse and a keyboard.
