Dead Space 3 won't launch on steam
Bought Dead Space 3 and the DLC during the steam sale. When I launch the game, the EA app launched saying "Something went wrong... To continue linking your EA Account, head back and start over."
I recently played Dead Space 2, also bought from my steam account, and had no issues when running that game.
Things I have tried while troubleshooting that did not fix the issue:
- Getting the CD key from steam.
When I right-click the game on steam and go to manage there is no option for CD keys, even if the game is installed, even if I verify the local files. There is a "Dead Space 3 - key" listed in the DLC for the game but there doesn't seem to be any way to interact with it. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game does not help. (When right-clicking on Dead Space 2 there is an option for the product key but not for DS 1 or DS 3)
- Launching the game with EA App open while signed in.
- Launching the game with Origin open whiled signed in.
- Launched the game with EA App and Origin closed.
- Launched the game after uninstalling EA App/Origin.
- Launching the game directly from the .exe.
When launching the game from the .exe EA app comes up with an error message saying I do not own the game
- Disabling EA apps in-game overlays.
- Updating the steam client (already up to date).
- Updating EA app/Origin.
- Verifying the integrity of the local files.
- Uninstalling and then reinstalling the game.
- Checking my email for a product key.
- Restarting my system.
- Disabling my VPN/firewalls etc.
Me and my friend spent hours trying to troubleshoot this, it seems like this problem is quite common based on this forum and steam's community page. Please help.
