Re: Dragon Age: Origins random crashing.

Thanks for the information @GrandInfi

There is a bunch of threads with very different solutions to problems happening with Windows 10 that may help:

Problem saving in DA:O after updating from win7 to win10

Dragonage Origins crashes windows 10

Can't launch Dragon Age Origins on Windows 10

Is your new computer running Windows 10 too @Fayether

One other thing not mentioned in these threads is to try running the game in compatibility mode (See: Running a game in compatibility mode in Windows 10 in the official FAQ).

Hope that helps.

  • Woo! The compatibility mode solution works for me; or rather, it does for the time being. I've been playing it for the past few hours with no problems thus far. So I would highly recommend for anyone to try that if none of the other solutions work for you. Oh, however, keep in mind that in the link leading to "the Official FAQ" that the instructions do mention to do it with the desktop shortcut. I did not do that due to the fact that the desktop short cut I use is merely for the launcher, so I had to go into my files to find the "DAOrigins.exe" and NOT "DAOriginsLauncher.exe".

Also 3 of the 4 links you listed were relatively unhelpful due to the nature of my initial question, and the information provided by them.

  • Yeah, @EA_Zoe I'm using windows 10.

@GrandInfi I just tried compatibility mode and it made the application start skipping. Or I guess it was the frames. I'm not sure. I had to turn it off because it only made things worse.

  • @Fayether; What install do you have?  (Steam? Retail disc? EA/Origin? Other?)  I

f not EA/Origin, I recommend that you grab your product code from the current install, then un-install it (keeping your saves, of course!) and re-install it via Origin.
