Where can I buy/find Ironwood (Iron Bark/Great Bear Pelts etc)?

Soooo I've just found out the game's worst and most dumb mechanic. By this I mean: somehow set by the game itslef number of failures before succeeding in crafting a masterwork item using "X% chance for +10% to stats" items (Dragon Teeth, Great Bear Pelts, Ironwood). And this number for me is apparently like 35, 'cause I've just tried 7 times in a row with 4 pieces of wood and 3 pelts and guess what - NOT A SINGLE item was of this trolly masterwork class! And yes, I'm just p#ssed off, 'cause others succeed in 3rd attempt, as I read. >.<

I think I need to gather at least 14 pieces of this kind of materials. Could anyone share some info? I'd be really grateful for this!

NOTE: I'd already completed that bear-hunting quest in Hinterlands (that's how I got those pelts) and found Ironwood hidden near the waterfall (also in Hinterlands).

  • Emerald Graves and Emprise du Lion.  I don't know exact locations, however.

This is for the great bear hides.  I will have to look into the iron bark for you.

There was a spot in Emprise that spawned nothing but great bears for 20 mins straight, it was crazy!  Not far from the initial camp near the Elven Ruins.  I have a vid of the whole thing I can upload later on.  Emerald Graves has them too but I usually have to wander around up north close to the dragon to find one.  They are very random.

Not sure about the iron bark either.

Sooo where is that spot? 'Cause everything I can find near the Elven Ruins in Emprise du Lion is some rams, wolves and those white and friendly I-don't-know-how-they-are-called-in-English-translation's, that drop 3rd class fur like madmen. Have BioWare got rid of them or are they somewhere else, not by the frozen river (that one called Elven Blood, at least in PL translation)?

Could you post a link to that video?

Save just before you craft, and if it fails reload and try again. Eventually you'll Mastercraft the item and you don't use up your resources.
