Unlootable containers: rare issue that may not be a bug
A very few times, I have encountered a chest in a dungeon, or the "we have some stuff for you sir!" container that you find in the world maps with a pair in Inqy scouts, than cannot be looted.
From a distance they highlight normally, but when you get close they no longer do, the "loot" label briefly appears then vanishes, are not interactable in any way.
I thought this was a bug with the containers, but I think it's actually a failure of the loot-rolling system. A container's items are rolled for from its loot table when you get near it: not when you open it, and not when it spawns. I've tested that. I don't know the exact distance, but definitely by the time you see "loot" over it, it's been rolled for. I highlight the loot label effect above because I believe what's happening is that the container's loot roll has resulted in zero items.
I suspect that's not intended; that there should always be at least one item in a chest (or gold). The issue is super rare, so whatever condition causes the random loot roll to result in "0 items" is not happening very often. Since an empty container is never lootable again, it goes dead.
It's not a super high priority compared to other bugs, but if anyone comes in here looking for info on it: I don't think you're missing anything inside the chest, as I was worried I might be. I think it just came up empty as you approached it.
