Copied from one of my comments: "... the issue is that the Ice Slam (where it raises its fists high) is an uninterruptible animation. Killing the Ice Giant while it's attempting a slam will cause the game to glitch.

It's possible to kill the Giant very quickly so it doesn't fire any slams, but it's probably best to wait for 3 slams before attempting a finishing blow."
