Re: Mac EA app - "Something went wrong" - Error EC:106 on EA app for Mac

I've been trying to access the EA app since they forced me out of my Origin app over a month ago and man oh man I haven't been able to access my Sims4 game that I PAID FOR ever since. My mac has the updated iOS, I've cleared all my caches and cookies and what not. Like I've tried everything fr. Someone please please help or give me some hope that there's going to be an update soon!!! I've talked to EA people and they just keep telling me to wait like are you kidding

I have the same issue since yesterday on my iMac. Downloaded EA App the day before and everything worked well. Tried downloading it on my Macbook today and the EA App works. So it has to do something with the iMac. Still can't find the fault.

You could provide really valuable information from both your Macs if it is hardware/OS specific:

    Exact model and year
    Processor info
    Graphics info
    RAM/Unified memory
    macOS version
    iCloud setup

    iMac: Retina 4K, 21.1 inch, 2017/ 3,4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5/ Radeon Pro 560 4 GB/ 8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4/ macOS 13.6.7

    MacBook Pro: 13 inch, M1, 2020/ 16 GB RAM, MacOS Ventura 13.0

I don't know what you mean with "iCloud Setup"

Hope this helps. If you need more Information let me know.

As being said, the app worked until yesterday on my iMac as well.

Thanks. What iCloud settings do you have? Just iCloud for Find My and other cross Apple app usage, or iCloud Drive so you can save files on the cloud, or iCloud Drive syncing your Desktop and Documents folders. Is Optimise Mac Storage enabled? You can look this all up in System Settings.

Is there a reason you’re running out of date versions of macOS? When you update the OS it fixes broken and corrupt system files and links which can help with system and app stability.

So I understand correctly, it’s working on your MacBook but not the iMac?

Yes since yesterday it doesn't work on my iMac but on the Macbook it works fine. The macOS on my iMac is the newest one i can get for this device. On the Macbook its because I don't use it that much, but now I'm afraid to update it.

I use iCloud on both devices to save some Documents, but not so many, especially not for Save Game Data. I don't use Optimise Mac Storage.

    Hope this answers your questions.

  • I'm having the same issue!! I've been trying to get it to work for over a month

  • I’m having the same issue. Got kicked out from Origin and now I can’t play due to this error. Already uninstalled it, reinstalled it, cleaned caches, updated my system and nothing ☹️.

  • Hi, I just saw that you had the same issue as me. You have to input the password to your mac computer , or computer in general, and not your EA account. I just got the EC: 106 error to go away and it took me back to my game center dashboard.
