Re: [WORKAROUND] "An unknown error occurred" while downloading DLC on EA app for Mac

Hi,

I recently had to switch from Origin to the EA app, which was working fine at first. But now it says that there's an update required and that doesn't work:

I've tried to clear the cache in the EA app, repair the game in the EA app and turned off my antivirus software, but nothing seems to work. I also tried to go back to origin to do the update there, but that doesn't work as I'm immediately prompted to switch to the EA app.

Anything else I can try? Thanks!

Go to system settings, privacy & security, full disk access, and turn it on for the EA app. I had the same issue as you and this worked for me and many others.

    Product: The Sims 4
    Platform:Mac
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? .
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? some
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? .
What happens when the bug occurs? .
What do you expect to see? .
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

The game needs an update, the update occurs an error. The chat support recommended a few steps and it did not help. Then I was reccomened to use Origin instead of EA App as it is known for the same problem. However, after logging into the Origin, one window pops up with - UPDATE to EA APP without even the option to close it.

    Hi all,

I have been trying to update since this newest patch yesterday. I keep getting an error message in the EA App. Ive done everything EA recommends such as clearing the cache and restarting the app and I keep getting the same error message. This is the first time since the EA app was released on Mac that I have tried to update the game. I also store my sims files on an external drive but have never had issues before.
