Re: DA:I has very low performance and FPS
Is the low performance constant? Cutscenes are capped at 30fps, so low performance is expected there, at least. What framerate are getting on average during regular gameplay?
Dragon Age Inquisition is not a demanding game by modern standards, so you should have good performance. Your CPU doesn't have built-in graphics, which rules out the possibility that the game is not running on the dedicated GPU. I can suggest the usual workarounds when the solution to a problem isn't obvious:
- Repair the game. In Origin you can find the option by right clicking the game in your library. In Steam it's called "verify integrity of game cache." (I don't know if the new EA launcher supports game repairs yet.)
- Delete your game settings file to force the game to make a new one. This file should be under Documents - BioWare - Dragon Age Inquisition - Save, and is called ProfileOptions_profile.
- Launch the game after performing a Windows clean boot. This disables non-essential programs at launch. If this fixes the problem, it means some background process is interfering with the game, which is quite common for DAI.
Edit: I forgot to add that DAI can behave unpredictably if you're playing through Origin with the overlay disabled. You have to keep that on. In my experience that only affects loading times, but I'm mentioning it for the sake of completion. Maybe it has different effects on different hardware configurations.
