Connecting ps3 controller to A Way Out on PC

I’m attempting to play A Way out with a friend on my PC (windows 10). In the beginning, I managed to connect my old ps3 controller (DualShock 3) to the game via Bluetooth. However, midway through playing the game, the controller ran out of battery, and no matter how many times I trie do t reconnect it, the game is unable to recognize the controller. (I’m stuck on the screen that says “press A”).

and it’s able to show up as connected through the DsHidMini program via wireless and Bluetooth, but for some reason the game doesn’t recognize it. Anyone have the same problem and have been able to successfully connect a ps3 controller to the game?
