Re: Game Pass + EA Play Requires Product Key?

Hi everyone,

This was happening because of an issue that was fixed recently. If you are still running into the same error message can you let me know?

Thanks!

/Kent

    I am not running into this issue, my friend is.
    I think the reason is when he launched a game, Origin never prompted him to link his Steam account to his EA account. So it then asks for a product code.
    On the connections tab under the EA account website steam is not linked for him but it is linked for me who has EA Play working fine.

    Hi @o2tX

    Just to make sure I understand correctly, your friend is using EA Play through an Xbox Game Pass membership?

    No he is not, he bought the steam version.

    He has the add to account option on steam, but when he launches the game, Origin asks for a product key.

    @o2tX

    Hmm, I see. It does sound like it might be trying to link the account. Do you know if your friend has ever played any other EA games through Steam?

    @o2tX

    Got it, thanks.

    It sounds like something is causing issues with Steam connecting to his EA Account. I think it would be best to ask your friend to reach out to the EA Help team so they can take a look at his account.

    For more info on how to set up a case with them check out the EA Help website. He can also speak with the team over Twitter or Facebook instead, if he'd rather.

    Alright thanks for the help HOWEVER as a pure suggestion.

    I suggest a function to allow the user to manually link the account in the connections page.
    That would instantly stop all issues if the Steam and Origin link fails.

  • for some reason i have the game installed and I already have logged in to my origins account and it keeps saying that this game needs a product key or something even though I have Ea play.

  • This is happening with Plant Vs Zombies. It clearly states that standard edition is included in your membership but loads game of the Year edition and prompts for a product key.

  • Same issue here with plants vs zombies

    I'm also having this issue with Plants vs Zombies. I was able to play it fine until Monday February 19th, when I started receiving the same product key prompt. I also have PC Game Pass + EA Play and both apps indicate this game should be included. My Xbox and EA accounts are linked.

    Wow, two years and no response from EA. I have been trying everything for 2 hours now to get it to work. First EA game I've played in a minute and I got to play it a half hour before bed and now it keeps giving me that prompt. I was thinking about downloading more games from EA but I have no interest in long downloads to not be able to play it and then no-one adressing it...

    No offense, it's just kind of a bummer.
