Re: [RESOLVED] - Cannot download The Sims 4

I have a new PC (literally days old), and I've downloaded the EA app, but whenever I go to download the Sims it just says "something went wrong with your download" with no other explanation. There's more than enough space on the disk, and other games on the EA app have downloaded just fine. I've put over 600 hours into the Sims and this is infuriating me, please help!

    same here. Driving me crazy

Already tried clearing ea cache, reset app, end task EA background service and update EA app. Restarted computer as well.
Tried logged off mode. nothing worked.

  • @Polarisce It looks like it's failing to calculate the disk space, but it doesn't give me the option to play around with the settings, it just says no. I'm glad I'm not the only one, how long have you had the problem for? I've only experienced it today.

havent opened the game for a while, Opened it just now and boom cant play.
On offline mode it says my game needs repairing now (apparently it got corrupted trying to download the update), but i cant repair it as well.
Its indeed a relief knowing that I am not alone, looked up the old thread regarding this issue looking for someone having this problem right now.
Also looked up twitter to check if they were doing mainteance on the app.

  • @Polarisce It's super annoying. I'll have to keep an eye on it. I've tried everything you said above, apart from ending the EA background service. How do I do that?

Open task manager - if you are on windows its usually ctrl alt del, select task manager.
a window will open with processes, there will be prob a group saying background services (within the process bar still)
look for EA background Service, it doesnt have the orange symbol, its a plain white symbol

You can sort alphabetically to make it easier by clicking on the name column

My explanation sucks, just ask me again and I will try to help xD

I am going though the same thing right now only that I uninstalled the game due to a different error and now I am no longer to install it once more. I am so annoyed, wasted 2 hours of my life trying to make this work.

I tried that earlier and it did not work for me... i even reinstalled the EA App after another failed attempt to download

  • EA app is weird, I have never experienced stuff like this on steam.. inability to play a game I bought. Honestly..

  • I'm the same, I uninstalled both the Sims 4 and the EA app to see if that was the problem, however, it still won't let me reinstall the sims 4, and I'm stuck. I've contacted EA support to see if they'll do anything but I very much doubt it.

Put in a report too. I went to twitter and saw that there are many people that encountered the same issue....

  • I did also put in a report so I'm hoping they'll sort it out. it always happens when the app needs and update

  • I managed to get my repair to go beyond 14% when I plugged out my ethernet cord, it gave me a message that my game needs repairing, i clicked "repair" and then i plugged my ethernet cord back in. It repaired the game then, I had to unplugg the cord again, started the game offline, i turned off the sims delivery thingy and then was able to plug my ethernet cord back in

@MissBienchen03 "I managed to get my repair to go beyond 14% when I plugged out my ethernet cord"

The classic "did you turn it off and on again?"
  • I agree! I didn't have this issue with Origin either. I hope EA fixes this soon, it's getting more than annoying at this point.

I would like to share my personal experience: after a second download of the "update" (once you are able to open The Sims 4, you'll be able to see that the game version has not been changed, still 1.99.305.1020 on PC Windows), EA app asked me to download it another time (that would have been the third and I would have tried it, honestly) so I restart the EA app, but it has been compleatly cloed all by itself, so I opened the EA app again and I've been able to open TS4 without any kind of matters. If that doesn't happen to you too, I woyld suggest you to try to restart your computer.

@f9c973b19a3bc4c3 I could’ve wrote this myself.. got a new PC today, downloaded the EA app to re-download all my sims packs but they won’t download, just says preparing for an age for it to eventually say there’s a problem with my download and to try again in a few minutes 🙄. Absolutely nothing is helping to fix it and half the options people have suggested don’t work because I can’t even get my packs installed 😒.
