Re: The Sims 3 Pets Freezes

I have a Navida GForce GT 520M Cuda at 1GB. The PC is barley 1 year old so I hope it isn't that bad yet 🙂 Well so far just in CAS since I haven't gotten any further. I made a sim, a dog and a horse. First time, with graphics settings on medium, It froze when I went to create the dog. The latest times it freezes when I'm creating the horse or when I'm loading my family from CAS :/ And then I've got my graphic settings on low. So I'm afraid I don't know if it lags while I'm playing as my family :/

Should be fine. It's the integrated chips that usually cause tons of issue with Pets.

Are you using any custom content ?

Yes I have some custom content. I read that they could become corrupt and cause problems with the game so I've tried uninstalling a few large ones and I also ran the game without any custom content but it didn't make a difference and also the game was fine with the custom content before I installed Pets. I also tried to rename The Sims 3 folder, like in the first answer to my post. I've uninstalled Pets and now reinstalled it again. And I also defragged my PC with smart defrag 2. Nothing seemed to help since the game continues to crash. I think the problem lies with the Pets game itself cause I tried make the family separate to see if it would crash with only a sim. I made the sim first and bought a house. So long so good. Then I added a dog and the game crashed :/

So, it's actually more crashing than freezing ?

Did you read the tips in the Crash Thread ? Maybe doing DEP can help you.

Well the game freezes and a message from Windows says that the game is no longer "responding" So I have to close it down. I'll check that out aswell and see if I find anything that helps 🙂 Thank you for replying!

    That is a crash.

If the game freezes it usually becomes unresponsive and you have to close it yourself with ctl-alt-del.

Freezes can last from a few minutes to forever.

Ah I see 🙂 Then I think my game does both because most of the time I have to shut it down myself with ctrl-alt-dlt, since it won't answer. And Windows keep giving me that message that it isn't responding. And a few times it froze but then shutdown itself and the not responding message poped up. I'm going to give the windowed mode a try and see if that helps 🙂

  • Hi there! If anyone is still having problem with freezing or perhaps crashing Pets, I found something that works for me. In task manager click on sims3.exe process and set priority to high. I don't guarantee that it'll work, but thanks to that I can play, hope You can too. 🙂 Cheers.

@Norad-MMC Good idea and that may help in the short term but may hurt background processes. The game should run with out having to adjust operating system parameters. Either the computer has low specs or something else needs to be looked at such as too many programs running in the background or other issues. But I like your idea.
