Re: Legacy Challenge Mods (TS3)

Sorry that I took so long to reply, but basically, I want it to be harder to earn money because it's always been a little bit too easy to earn money, and I really want a challenge.

@Splotchish  There are a few different approaches you could take.  One is to raise the sims' bills, which you can do with NRaas Retuner.  The advantages of that are that you set the exact value you want and that Retuner loads last and therefore overrides any other mod settings, so you can use it alongside other mods.  You can find the exact path in this list of popular Retuner settings; search the page for "bills":

    https://www.nraas.net/community/Members-Retuner-Settings

A couple entries below that, you'll see a setting to lower the cost of items at the bookstore and grocery store; you can of course raise those values instead.  As an example, kPercentModifier 200 should double the prices, according to the documentation, but check in-game anyway.

NRaas StoryProgression's SP Money add-on allows you to set an income tax as well, which you can do for a single household (yours) if you'd prefer not to subject the townies to the same tax.  Income tax is taken out of wages; your sims don't pay it with the bills.  You can also use SP to change the property tax rate if you don't feel like using Retuner.  To be clear, you'd need both the SP base module and the Money add-on for each of these options.

If you'd rather lower salaries directly, Madam Doofie and EvelynnMama both have mods on Mod the Sims with "Minimum Wage" in their names.  I can't link them here, but Google or the MTS search function should work.  I've never used either of these myself, so you'll want to check the comments for any red flags before installing either one.  All I can say from a cursory look is that they shouldn't be used together.

I guess the best option for you depends on how you plan to have your sims make money.  After all, it won't matter much if you raise income tax and lower salaries for sims that are entirely self-employed.

If you're having trouble with any particular setting—I know Retuner especially has a bit of a learning curve—feel free to ask for more specific instructions.
