Re: Best Gaming Desktop for Sims 3 All Expansion Packs + Mods & Lots of CC

@purplecainee  I'm sorry for the late reply.  It looks like your post got bounced around a bit, and then I ended up missing it for a few days.  Anyway, are you still looking for a good desktop?  If so, something like this would work quite well:

(Ignore the single one-star rating—contrary to the user's complaint, this computer is absolutely compatible with Windows 11.  It's possible a single BIOS setting needs to be changed, but that's all.)

This is the same computer except with more storage, which isn't necessary for Sims 3 (even with all the mods and cc the game would be willing to load), but it might be nice to have if you're planning on storing other data on the computer as well, like your game recordings for example.

Both of these would run the game on ultra graphics settings with plenty of room to spare, in fact they're overkill for Sims 3.  You could certainly save some money by getting a computer with a significantly slower Nvidia 1650 for a graphics card, and it would still run the game on ultra settings.  But the 1660 gives you more of a buffer to cushion against the game's inevitable fps drops.  To be clear, the drops happen on even the most powerful computers, but performance will bottom out at a higher level overall when you have stronger hardware, in particular the graphics card and processor.

All the way up to $1,200, most of the options are at best equivalent to the ones above, with no extra features that would make them worth the higher price tag.  But this one ($1,100) has a much faster graphics card than even the 1660:

To be clear, a 3060 is massive overkill for Sims 3.  I'm only mentioning it because it sounds like you'd be interested in knowing what else is out there.

If you're into heavily editing your videos, not just a little here and there but the kind of process that takes a lot of time, you may instead want a computer with a stronger processor, like one of these:

Their graphics card is a little faster than the 1660 and slower than the 3060, but the processors are significantly more powerful than the 10400 in the other models.  (The processor in the second one above is a bit better than the first, but the gap isn't massive.)  To be clear, this is not something you'd need or maybe even notice if your video editing tasks only take a few minutes, but if you're spending more like half an hour or longer, you might see a worthwhile benefit.

If you have more specific questions, please feel free to ask.
