Do the following steps:
- open cheat console (shift, ctrl, c)
- resetSim firstname surname
- hit enter
That should solve the problem, if he's still stuck, then try this:
- open cheat console (shift, ctrl, c)
- type in: testingcheatsenabled true
- hit enter
- go into build/buy mode (F2 or F3 shorcuts)
- shift-click on your sim and choose "Reset"
- Go back to live mode (F1 shortcut) and unpause the game
