Re: daily/weekly tournies fee

Lol no.

and in my opinion entering tournaments should be one and done, not unlimited amount of entries.  ( except arcade ).

there are players playing who can’t get into a ranking to earn tickets and VC, whilst those of us with 600k+ have money to burn and don’t care about rewards and will enter 3 or 4 times just to finish higher and get their VC back.

  • @blue4eva77 You know that just might work Blue. Only one entry per tournament. You wait maybe a day or two to play the weekly tournaments after the -22 people have played and had their turn. Have the weekly ones reset every day and pay people out the next day, same as the daily ones. But the people that already played have to wait until the next week when they change. That still doesn't fix the daily ones though, and you need to play those to get tickets to play the weekly ones. So maybe another way to get tickets. They need to do something for sure to draw people back to this game, because with the summer sale now on steam, people are looking at the other golf game now. You know the one they said wasn't near as good as this one.

I'm all for the one and done approach, as it would more simulate an actual tournament. I life sometimes there are no do overs.

But I also understand them wanting to keep things active. Especially when it appears interest is waning.

Or... using the results to relegate you into tiers in your next tournament, based on an average of your last 7 entries throwing out your high and low results. This way hopefully you are playing with your peers and will be in a bracket where you are competitive.

Any new player stands little to no chance of accumulating VC in the current tournament pay outs.  Also an average to above average stands little to no chance, but may have one or two good days where they get into a top 10.

the better players have hundreds of thousands of VC and have no worry about running out, so they’ll enter a daily multiple times just so they can better their scores and be at the top of the leaderboards, grabbing the tickets.  That new player, or average player can’t afford to enter multiple times and maybe not even enter at all because they didn’t get ranked previously, as their score was beat out by the players entering 6 times ‘ to correct their mistakes ‘.

I don’t have this issue, before anyone is rude enough to say ‘ get better ‘.  It has to be balanced, and currently, any new player is at a major disadvantage to those players constantly leading daily, weekly, being able to enter multiple times to better their previous score.

tournaments shouldn’t be unlimited entry,  period.  On daily, weekly and seasonal should be…

    Arcade ( 2 entries )

    Pro ( 2 entries )

    Tour ( 1 entry )

    Sim ( 1 entry )

It would make it balanced for everyone and give it s slightly more competitive feel to it.  Something needs to change

  • I think the daily free entry should be unlimited.  I think that’s a good place for people to play over and over and learn the game.

All the others it makes sense to me to have one entry.

That said, payouts for the dailys and weekly’s need looked at.  The game should be -encouraging- people to play these tournaments, but instead, for most people, it’s a better deal for them only to play the free daily and bank the VC.

I’d do the following three things:

    1.  Reduce the cost of tickets in the store to 500VC per ticket.
    2.  Make all the dailys “missed rank” payout equal to the number of tickets that could have been purchased in store for the entry fee and scale up from there.
    3.  Make all the weekly’s “missed rank” payout equivalent to the amount of VC it cost to buy the tickets to enter from the store.

Basically for the dailys and weekly’s make it a no net gain or loss for participating even if you finish the worst.

I really think we’d see significantly more participation if this was done.

I respectfully disagree... but you are right something needs to change. I think you are right in another post that handicapped AND a tiered system nedds to be put in place.

And as you mentioned the payout structure needs to be reviewed and adjusted.

I don't think people are adversed to paying and losing their entry fee as long as they see some occasional success. You really have to be a masochist to keep pouring VC into tournament play with no expectations of ever recovering anything.

But you make some good points.

And they absolutely need to do something to encourage people to continue playing. The payouts are too high on the top, and VC no longer means anything to them. While the lower end is struggling to get anywhere.

The game is stagnating, lacking challenge and interest is waning. I still come to the message boards to catch up on news... but I now only turn the game on to play with friends.

I would agree with this statement if there were tiered  brackets and you were playing against like level of competition.   That said, creating a tier/handicap system is far more complex of an implementation than simply changing the values of payouts, and as such probably far less likely to occur in this iteration of the game.

Changing payouts to make entry’s essentially break even prospects, seems an easy stop gap to help with getting more people to play the mode.

All that said, EA is a predatory company and probably hopes people spends real  money on virtual currency, so is likely fine with the status quo.
