Re: Positive Features of Other Golf Games to Implement for PGA Tour Sequel
1) Attributes of created golfers are not 0 when you start.
Actually 2K has a skill tree that is supposed to improve your player. In some instances after certain objectives have been reached.
2) No specs are available or all specs are available.
I think this was done to get people to sign into the game everyday.
To improve the game ATTRIBUTES should be assigned to the equipment. AND if they didn't hold our hands by telling us what those attributes were it would extend the life of the game.
It would extend the life of the game for myself personally to see which clubs suit me best. Which appear to hit straighter or longer. Which ball gives me a little more spin or length. This could be a never ending chase for me to find nirvana, I mean isn't this why people IRL are aways looking for the next thing to improve their game?
With the equipment they could affect the experience by the sound and tactile response of the ball coming off the club. Whether the ball has a softer sound and seemingly less velocity or it feels like hitting a Topflight ball (what feels like a rock).
I would love to feel a buttery soft shot off my club for a perfectly struck shot, and something clunky that hurts my ears and stings my hands for a mishit and everything inbetween.
We have 5 senses, lets use the 3 available to them in the game.
I really felt this when 2K changed something in the putting in their series, I don't remember between which games, but there was a significant difference.
Putters should also have different characteristics, mallets can hit a bit straighter but distance control is a bit more difficult than blades.... etc...
There is a lot that could be done but has never been implemented. In a field that is almost 50 years old (golf video games), they really have not evolved very far.
3) The gameplay mechanics of TW, Rory and 2K21 was enjoyable for an arcade player like me and it remained constant. PGA 2k23 had an issue after update forced ball to left regardless of angle. EA PGA Tour had promising gameplay when it first came out and it got worse after update 3.0 due to lip-out fests. I wish sliders are available to accommodate advanced gamers and arcade gamers.
I agree much higher levels of difficulties are needed in this game. But I don't think sliders are the answer... they need to be predefined so that the playing field is even across the board for competitive play.
And these changes need to be mainly skill based, and not just a larger RNG factor.
I am undecided about the lipouts and rollovers I am seeing in the game after the patch. I think it was their way of adding difficulty to the game. While I appreciate that hole seems smaller (a good thing); it doesn't seem the ball reaction around the hole is consistent. It is almost like there is a RNG component in play here as well.
I have seen some fairly quick putts roll in, and very slow ones roll over the center of the cup. I am less concerned about making less putts as I am about the lack of consistency around the cups physics.
4) “Participation in Daily Tournament” is not a prerequisite to earn rewards in TW, Rory, 2K21/2K23. I wish the EA PGA Tour eliminated the “Participation in Daily Tournament” for daily quest.
I am fine with this, since playing a daily tournament will fulfill any quests. The issue is that you are not rewarded for playing after you reach level 50 for XP points. What they should do is convert XP to VC after level 50. Maybe at a 10 to 1 ratio, to reward playing the game, as well as playing the challenges.
I personally stopped playing the challenges about 2 weeks in, once I maxed out my level at 50 and had the available equipment I wanted. Especially that equipment was cosmetic only.
5) TW has the best customization for face because of Gameface. WWE 2K22/2K23 is able to use a game face technology for next gen. Adding this to PGA Tour would be great.
Just goes to show they are not exactly moving forward with technology. While moving forward with graphics, it seems the game has gone backwards in many other areas.
6) I was impressed with the Alexa voice being able to say the name “Ana De Armas” when selecting golfer in quick play. This feature was not available in other golf games. It would be nice if commentators can say the name as well.
You make a good point, but there are a lot of things more important to me that could be addressed first.
