I don't think the engine sounds are that bad in the game. A lot of players probably don't even realise you can change between "Cinematic, Broadcast & Driver" mix which has a big difference depending on your TV/Monitor speaker/Soundbar setup.

My biggest gripe is that the game engines sound a bit dull and flat, and they're missing so much of the turbo whine, gear clunks, wind and track/curb effects that really add to the immersion. 

At the moment it just sounds like a single flat audio tone for each gear.... Which adds to the floaty feel of the car. 

In the game, when cars bottom out, we don't hear the scrapes from the plank, we just hear a dull in the engine... More needs to be done with sound effects. 

Also it's great to have Marc Priestly, but not all engineer dialogue needs to be said with emphasis like he's presenting a show. Real engineers are a lot calmer and subtle with their delivery of info. Can we add audio info for number of laps remaining too? Maybe a calm "Leclerc 2.1 behind" rather than "LECLERC IS THE CAR BEHIND MATE, HE'S 2.1 SECONDS BEHIND, COME ON!

  • Priestly is awful.  So hokey and does not communicate what a race engineer normally.  Like you don't have to explain dirty air to me every race and please stop congratulating me on my turn in to the pit box.

    Agreed regarding the engineer drivel. It's so scripted and incredibly repetitive, awful!

    And for crying out loud why can't they fix the "tyre pressure sensor message" that is in every single race. It's just poor programming and again attention to detail or lack of!

    It's nice to have priestly as someone who has worked in the garage, but he was a chief mechanic and not a race engineer. 

    Why can't Codemasters get hold of a real engineer, or use actual team radio clips like in the F1 Manager series (who do this INCREDIBLY well!!) We could have a real and different engineer for each team. Real sounding dialogue. 

    Maybe stop telling us "the marshalls have managed to clean it up and there are NO plans for a safety car" AS the SC comes out!

    Agreed the engineer audio in F1 manager was absolutely brilliant. What we have in the F1 games is just tedious with a lack of creativity. Never in a million years would EA do something as good as that, because their priorities are all wrong.

    Again it's a complete lack of attention to detail. They would much rather use the resources to create and implement more unrealistic garbage than create perfect engineer audio.

    I bet if you asked everyone who bought the game if they prefer the gimmicks or real life like audio we all know what they would say.

    I agree that race engineers need to change.

    We hear too many repetitive sentences.
    First, when cruising, you hardly need to listen to the radio.
    On the other hand, when chasing, you should often get the gap from the car in front and hear more tense speech about which sector is slow, when to use ERS, when to charge, when to box
    Current engineers have too many sentences that do not exist in the real world
    And personally, I do not like the tone of the voice
