Turning OFF mechanical failures AGAIN

Just like in F123 I am having to turn off mechanical failures. I have the highest durability on the grid yet I am retiring from every OTHER race with some mechanical failure or another.

9 races, 4 DNF’s from mechanical failures. My teammate has 1 DNF in the same time. Not using excessively worn components, in fact three of my 4 failures have been on brand new parts.

So, as I ended up doing in F123 I will probably turn off mechanical failures again given that I have 4 failures and the ENTIRE rest of the grid has 7 combined. Glad that the durability department actually does something.

  • @tn132 Durability does not affect mechanical failures, it only determines how quickly a parts performance degrades.

As an example the more worn your ICE the less power it provides, this starts to become more noticeable after about 50% so having a high durability would allow you to get in more races before noticing the performance drop.

As for as the mechanical failures go, I generally just turn it off at the start of a season and wait and see what happens to the AI. If the drivers I think I should be competing with start to retire a lot I’ll turn it back on until the retirements start to balance out.

Overall I agree with your assessment that the systems not great and probably needs a rethink.

  • @tn132 I would say that is a lot but it is also somewhat realistic for new parts to fail without suffering any wear. As Rage said, you can turn down the frequency or turn them off completely

I thought mechanial failutes didn't work this year... in 2 seasons I haven't had a failure even once, even though I turned failures on the highest level. Only one time i got drs issue.

  • In the settings press triangle (or equlivlent on playstation) untill you get to "expert settings" then you can turn player mechanical failures on. Its on the top right(ish) area, while you are in the career mode menus. Not in game.

  • I didn't found a correspondig thread in F1 24 but it seems the failure system isn't been improved.

So far I had 3 engine failures in 5 races. I would understand this when my teammate has nearly the same stats but he has 0 DNFs.

I'll deactivate this feature. this makes no sense
