Re: screen flickers black pga tour

HI @gimmick2 To confirm can you try a separate cable or monitor to check if the same issue happens?

We can also try the following and check if this keeps up.

Lets be honest here about these crashes

Have been playing game for last 4 days with no trouble what so ever

Today have not even got to the menu screen before it crashes the pc (at least 10 times)

Have tried all suggested fixes on these forums, but the game has been working fine,so i know it is not my system it is the game itself

This forum is full of people reporting crashes and all EA does is say try this try that.

Have yet to see if anyone has got a fix for the poblem

Thanks but the monitor cable has nothing to do with the problem because every other game works without problems and so does the computer on everything I do with it.

I think I just stumbled upon a solution; The HP Omen computer has a Omen Gaming hub, which installs with the machine and works on the background all the time. I disabled it and the black screen flickering was over.

However when playing the game it crashed, which seemed to be an graphics card bug of some sort. Never had any problem with any other game with my GeForce RTX 3060 Ti before, but I will explore the game settings more and see if some settings are set too high.

Have tried all the obvious settings in GFX panel all lowered to bare minimum but still crashes..

I have more demanding games on my rig that play without any problem

    Conclusion is EA game sucks.....

At least i bought it half price on steam so no big hit in the pocket....

Last time i buy from EA...

Had my eye on  f1@23 but after reading comments about that game crashing as well will not bother

    UPDATE

Just tried again. The game crashed before i can get to settings to check if anyting has changed

    UNINSTALLED

    Lesson learned...

Back to Elden Ring on Maximum settings and no crashes.......

    Goodbye EA

Just a note after few days of playing the game:

I reduced all the options in the settings that were potential graphics card problems, but the game still crashes many times every day. It's good however that the game is saved as is crashes, so one can continue after restart. The crash problem seems always to be the graphics card and mine gives a warning about graphics card memory, which my GeForce RTX Ti should have enough to run the game with decent settings.

Also I forgot to mention that I have Windows 11, if that helps in any way building patches and fixes.

But I have to say you have made a great game! It is very realistic even to the point of frustration 🙂

One thing that should immediately be fixed with the next update is to add a metric system. This would be very important, because all Europeans are used to measure everything in the metric system, so please put this as number one fix in your list.

Any advice or help for the constant crashes would be very much appreciated.

Hi @gimmick2 Thanks for the update, To check where you able to try the other troubleshooting steps I post above as well?

If so, would it be possible to get a DxDiag?

@spillers10 Thanks for taking a moment to share your experience with the Community, Going from PGA Tour to Elden Ring seems like a hardcore jump!

If your still interested in checking out the crashing issue to check could you try the steps above and if the problem persist share a dxdiag as well?

    Thanks!

    Thanks again for your answer!

I opened the EA App but there is no (or at least I could not find one) repair option anywhere?

Also regarding the EGS - Repair (Library > Tile dots > Manage > Verify), I don't know what this means and what is EGS? Can you please elaborate on both these?

I did however the verifying on the Steam app and this was the result: 1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired.

Will this repair happen automatically via Steam somehow, because there was no option or possibility to do anything after the scan was completed?

    This game been binned now

Spent enough time trying to fix the freezes and crashes,so won't bother with a DxDiag..

Not like it is a new problem..seems to have been happening since game was released according to threads on here and steam

HI @gimmick2 Thanks for the update!

First EGS stands for Epic Games Client. Since you don't own it there, we don't have to worry about that bit.

WIth the failed file, Steam should have attempted to download it right after it finished verifying. Did you see anything in the Maange Downloads section of steam?

    Thank you for your reply!

In Steam Download section (which I just checked after your reply) I can see that Steam has downloaded a 758.5 KB file a few days ago, so that part seems to be in order and fixed.

I'm still getting daily crashes though, but I tried to reduce more settings today to medium and turn some off totally.

I will keep you posted if it helps and if there is anything I could send you to better understand the problem, please let me know.

Hi again and sorry for writing so much, but today after two total crashes within couple of minutes these two error reports were generated:

    First crash:

    DirectX function
    "g_dx12Renderer->getDevice0->CreateCommandList(1<<gpuNode), commandListType, transitionCommandAllocator, nullptr,
FB_IID_PPV_ARGS(&gpuData.dxTransitionCommandList.assign Get 0() "failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED ("The video cvard has been phusically removed from the system, or a driver upgrade for the video card has occured."). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti" , Driver: 53667. This error is usually caused by the graphics driver crashing: tryu installing the latest drivers: DeviceRemovedReason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The GPU will not respont to more commands").

    GeForce EXPERIENCE
You have the latest NVIDIA driver
NVIDIA Game Ready Driver Version 536.67 Release date: 07/18/2023

    Second crash:

DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" faild with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The GPU will not respont to more commands").
GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti" , Driver: 53667. This error is usually caused by the graphics driver crashing: tryu installing the latest drivers

Note that I have the latest driver:

    GeForce EXPERIENCE
You have the latest NVIDIA driver
NVIDIA Game Ready Driver Version 536.67 Release date: 07/18/2023

Hopefully this helps and hoping to get some help how to configure either the game files or game settings to help with this.

    @gimmick2

My crashes always gave me the same errors as yourself

DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The GPU will not respont to more commands").
GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti" , Driver: 53667

This is what i did to solve the crashes

I noticed that i had 2 games in EA App installed through steam on c drive.   PGA TOUR and The sims 4 (granddaughters game)

1... uninstall both games through steam, uninstall EA App

2...install steam onto a different drive (in my case i changed from c to d

3... install EA App back onto c drive

4...insalled both games back through steam onto my d drive

5...Always play the game from steam library DO NOT run the game from desktop shortcut or the EA App

    Not had any crashes since

Funny thing is, the sims 4 started crashing, even though it had never crashed before,,solved that by installing to another PC

No crashes on PGA TOUR in over 8 days

My conclusion is the EA APP is at fault,  not your GFX Card or Drivers

Thanks a lot for your reply and suggestions @spillers10

I do have Steam on my C drive and most of my games installed on my D drive including PGA tour. I also usually start the game from the desktop shortcut, but will only use Steam library from now on.

If this doesn't help, I will uninstall Steam and put everything on my D drive, but it's a long operation so I rather not do it but will if nothing else helps.

I also have a feeling crashes are caused by the EA app, because this is the only game that causes crashes or problems.

    @gimmick2

Done some more testing today and i can now confirm what the problem is for me...

If i only have PGA Tour insalled in EA App then game works, no crashes in 3 hour session

Installed 2 more games in EA App, that gives me 3 in total

PGA Tour crashed 3 times in 10 minutes, had to give up

    Good luck in your attempts

This is the first time i have ever come across this problem

Have fixed this issue myself. A very strange problem it is

If i have PGA Tour installed on it's own in EA App the game works

if i install another game in EA App then both games crash

Just to clarify i can only have 1 game installed at any time inside the EA App

Just another thing to add in to the 'fixes to try' for those PC users with nvidia gfx cards is to try a clean install of the graphics drivers, but use the studio drivers that are available in the same download area as the game ready drivers.

I found that the game was quite unstable at random when using the game ready drivers, even the most up to date variant. I switched out to the studio drivers, and haven't suffered any crashes since.
