This actually one of the things I like about the EA game. It allows you to hit accurate partial shots and gives you much better feel with pitches and chips.

2K's swing is a bit ridiculous since 2K2019. Trying to finesse a swing in 2K23 is totally unrealistic.

    Partial shots don't exist in the game. You just pull the aim marker back and hit it full. Every shot is a full shot.

    That's not entirely true.  As an example....Hitting to a downward sloping green with the wind behind your back, you want to use a normal approach shot vs a finesse shot so that you get the extra spin.  However, if your distance is kind of between two clubs, the best way to get close and be able to hold is to purposefully underswing several %.

    I understand this, which to me is why this is a game opposed to a sim. In 2K you can do the same thing... but we play with the aiming reticule disabled. Which means you have to be creative in your shot making and to know your yardages. Just like in real life.

    You just can't place the aiming reticule where you want the ball to land. You can hit partial shots... it just isn't nearly as easy to do.

    I am still forced to do it occasionally as there are gaps in my yardages in this game.

    While what you are saying is absolutely true, you can also make adjustments as he suggested by going with a lower club and moving the aiming reticule to the distance yiu have calcuated you need.

    Without the aiming reticule you work from a fixed distance and adjust with loft and length of swing. Or at least that is how I do it in 2K where it lets you disable the aiming reticule.

    But ideally you would want to make a full swing as it is your best point of reference. But it would make the game so much better if gaps in distances had to be made with partial shots.

    I'll disagree a tiny bit.  You can fill all distances in EA by changing the shot type, the club and moving the reticle.  That said, you cannot use a more advantageous shot type for certain distances without doing partial swings.    Standard Approaches/Drives all have some yardage gaps between them to where you are unable to move the reticle to cover a certain yardage.  You can switch to finesse to cover those gaps, but then you lose spin and stopping power and gain rollout.

    I was thinking about distances inside 70 yards but outside 50 yards. Honestly it has been quite a while since I have played EA, but I believe that is where I had a gap in my clubs.

    But note, I no longer play with a levelled up character. I use a base 67 character in order to increase the level of difficulty in the game.

    Also without the finesse shot I also had some gaps in other areas as well.
