Re: Logitech G923 Strange noises

I played different games, and the only one that gives me this horrible sounds is f1 23. I don’t know if the other games use or not truforce feature, but f1 is unplayable

@xX_Kayaman80_Xx not many games support TF. It's a very distinct feeling and also noise. To be clear my G923 only makes these noises with games that support TF. I'm not saying there isn't an issue, but most likely it is one of having TF settings than it is an actual bug. However, that will never completely remove the noise as long as the game uses TF and we can't switch it off (which to be honest we should).

I admit that I'd love to compare my experience and share it here but I'm on Xbox so I can't.

Yes, this is an issue of not having TF settings to actually lower it down or turn it off.

I am on pc and I can turn off TF from Ghub, but the thing is that if I do that, then the game settings won't work, I need someone if can confirm this,
I mean for example, On track effects, Rumble strips or Off track effects.

This means that I can disable TF and his super loud noise but if a drive over a curb suddenly i have a machine gun firing in my house and no setting actually helps with this.

@mariohomoh reducing the in-game slider for the Effects audio in F1 23, doesn't attenuate or reduce the "whirring" sound. You can see it in my video with all the sliders at 1. Also, even as a feature, don't think that adds-up anything to the "feeling" of the car, you can barely hear it when using headsets. (it's just a sound)

@RVladimiro I've just tested it with ACC, that is another Trueforce compatible game (source: official logitech page. Screenshot attached)

1º - The vibrations and the force are really strong, and make a lot of noise (from the cogs) but even at 100% (default settings), are softer than the noise produced by some curbs described in my video.

2º - Regarding trueforce: the vibrations in the wheel, matches with the sound of the engine. Lets suppose that you stop the car with the engine on, and mute the game volume, you can hear the engine running in the base on the wheel (as it were an actual engine).

3º- The "whirring" noise that we're hearing in F1 23, are not present in ACC at any moment.

@Santial2885 I've played ACC too. Thank you for comparing it with F1 23 and sharing the differences you experienced. That should help a lot in figuring this out.

A small detail, I had a gut feeling that unlike ACC and Dirt Rally 2.0 TF wouldn't add much to F1 23 as far as car feeling goes and you just confirmed that.

@RVladimiro Logitech sends the SDK (software dev kit) to the companies to implement this feature in their game, and the implementation depends on what game are you trying to make, and trying to make the ffb feeling, as much it can be possible to a "real car"

In my opinion, it would be unfair to compare the FFB of the games 1 to 1, because what you can feel driving a F1 car, It's completely different from what you should feel driving a GT car, or a Rally car.

Having said that, I think the wheels for F1 23 are working as intended, @mariohomoh confirmed that with Logitech. (I don't know if there is any kind of bug or not, i don't have the tools to see what's happening "behind the scenes")

As I understand it (someone correct me if i'm wrong), Trueforce wasn't working at release, and was introduced in-game with the patch, and that's why "is working as intended", but without the possibility of tweak the values, the force, and the intensity of it, (supposedly at 100% all the time), it feels like you are fighting with the wheel, instead of controlling it, and that's what I think people are talking about in this thread, including myself.

One last note: i've already test the game reducing trueforce values in G-hub, and it creates another weird and inconsistent behaviours with FFB as a whole, that would deserve another full video to show it and explaining it. (i could make it if i'ts relevant to the conversation)

Some of the information that has been posted albeit interesting feels kinda pointless if we're not comparing how it sounds on others games that run it,
I'd put money on the fact that its waaay more grindy, loud and unsettling in F1 23 than other games, it should be softer than the Trueforce on rally games lets face it.

I really think its comes down to Trueforce and FFB not being implemented properly or being bugged all together in 23, we can't ignore it anymore with how buggy in general this launch has been,
  • For me it was perfect until the last patch, i was really enjoying the game, and i loved it …apart from the horrible graphic details

Well f1 22 had the same problem and they never fixed it, that makes it more worrying.

  • @Mfr3akwas that in a particular platform? I never experienced it on Xbox, maybe because TF wasn't present in it.

@RVladimiroYep on PC this issue is already 1 year old, they introduced TF first in f122 exclusively on pc and they ignored the problem the whole year.

@xX_Kayaman80_Xx At least now, because the problem is also on consoles, it gives some hope that they will finally fix it.

    More testing and Feedback:

    - The "whirring" noise, seems to coincide with tire slip. Easy way to test it, go to time trial, and make some dounts. You can hear the exact same sound when the tyres are sliding on the surface. Why does it also in the straights whitout touching the steering wheeel? idk. But it seems to be related with the tyres. At the moment you stop the car, the sound goes away.

    - The excesive amount of vibrations since the implementation of Trueforce, happens when you take ANY curb at low speed.(150 kph or lower, aprox). The same curbs taken at higher speeds, feels absolutely smooth.

All the test were made with a lot permutations of ghub values (from 100 to 0, in torque and audio effects), same results.

In game, the only sliders that seems to work, are the "wheel rotation", and "Vibration and force feedback strenght". Either way, both tests mentioned above, have the same results.

    Even more testing:

I've installed an older version of G-HUB (released in 2020 with trueforce support) and the car feels great again. There are some noises in the curbs (there are plastic cogs after all), but nothing even close that what we're experiencing today.

    - Center spring: works great

    - Bumps in the road: great

    - Curbs: Everyone of it feels really smooth.(it increases a bit at lower speed curbs, but is manageable and non intrusive)

    - The "whirring" noise is still there. Same loudness, same intensity. (using headets, it's really barely audible)

    FFB Settings in-game

    - Everything at default

    - Wheel saturation: Need to be set at 90, because the game doesn't seem to recognize the wheel rotation setting in G-hub (320º in my preference)

    FFB Settings in GHUB

    - Torque: 60

    - Sound effects: 20

With this "experiment", the wheel feels like the release version of the game, and also, the sliders of trueforce in ghub, seems to work as intended.

  • So… The “trueforce” noise coming from the engine of the wheel is normal and will NOT break my wheel?🤣 I want play F1 with headphones at least
