Re: F1 World Goals permanently disabled

@Brears11When you clear your local data, do you also lose redeemed items such as limited-time liveries?

I was able to make the Goals work again, BUT (read more about the 'but' below the pic)...

I had to DELETE MY LOCAL FILES + DEACTIVATE CLOUD SYNC (in my case, with Steam).

That was the only way it would work - as the pic above show, I did one race after that and the Goals seem to be counting (to unlock) again - I can only ASSUME it would unlock after those 5 races.

I made several other tests, including:

    - deleting the local data only

    - deactivating cloud sync only

    - make a backup of all of my files and then put them back once the goals seem to be counting again

    And none of these work.

The only way it worked was as described above (by deleting my local files AND deactivating cloud syncing)

    BUT... (yep, there's another 'but')

When you delete your local files and deactivate cloud syncing, you lose:

    - All career saves/progression

    - All your custom car setups

    - Your custom avatar (including appearance, clothes, player badge and custom vehicle liveries)

    - All your cabinet trophies

    - And for some reason your custom OSD if you don't use the default layout

So, before any tests (or deleting any files), make sure to have a BACKUP of the following folders:

    GAME CONFIGS:

    C:\Users\[your user name]\Documents\My Games\F1 23

    GAME SAVES (Steam):

    ..\Steam\userdata\[your Steam account ID]\2108330

(for non-Steam players, the game saves should be in the ..My Games\F1 23 folder as well)

    ...

    CONCLUSION:

The problem is somewhere in one of these files AND the communication between them and the cloud (EA servers), but I wasn't able to isolate the problematic file(s) and I also hope EA is not waiting for one of us (players/customers) to pinpoint the problem so they can fix it - meaning I hope they can both find and fix it (ASAP) themselves, of course..

Also, I don't know how easy or not it would be to solve this - or to do what I'm about to suggest - but it seems to be the best to do, at least for now, which is to make a patch (add to the next game patch) to NOT force the players to complete 5 races to unlock the Goals - meaning, the Goals should be ALWAYS unlocked for everyone, since the moment they install their games - hopefully this wouldn't lock people out at some point and it wouldn't 'hurt' the game in any ways either - I mean.. why are Goals locked for the first 5 races anyway? What's to 'gain' with that? And what would be the harm in letting them unlocked since the install?

At this point EA may as well leave the bug unpatched. It's too late.

I haven't bought the most recent Paddock Pass, and I haven't even played the game for weeks because this bug has shut down the one feature that convinced me to buy F1 23. I'd like to get my money back, but with so many hours pre-bug invested, that's probably more hassle than it's worth.

Instead I switched to iRacing. Money I would have spent on F1 23 went to iRacing.

    Bye, I guess.

@SexyBrigadeiro If you had gone through all of the posts in this thread you would have come to the same conclusion without having to wipe your save, all of your findings are already previously known.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again, wiping a save is not a fix as you will get locked out sooner or later anyway.

    @dotazured

When the issue first happened to me, this thread was already super long, so I didn't have the time to read each little post in it (I still have a life, come on - lol) - so I simply added to it saying it was also happening to me, etc..

After that, I decided to make some tests myself and share my results/conclusions, because I thought it might be helpful to the discussion.

I'm glad to hear other people got to the same results and conclusions as I did - this means I'm not crazy (lol) and that we can all agree about a few things - including the obvious fact that deleting our personal data should NEVER be a 'solution' (the actual solution MUST be given by EA itself and it shouldn't involve losing/resetting ANY game data or progress either)..

    And last but not least..
I didn't lose anything myself - as I mentioned, I made sure I had a backup of all of those folders and files, for safety, so.. I was able to put everything back in their places after I was done with the tests - I just wanted people to be aware of that if they decide to do the same or anything similar.

    Cheers!

This issue is now "awaiting a Patch" according the Community-Raised issues thread, so (hopefully) expect to see a fix that works in 1,5 weeks time.

Someone ran out of patience. Meanwhile I'm still patient and I still play it just for Scenarios, Legendary parts, stickers and obtaining limited-time items.
