Have you tried Triplis’ sorcerer mod? While there are parts for Realm of Magic integration, I believe they’re all optional. I think it should work with just base game.

@Zander9823 the plantsim challenge is a good idea to try. As @PipMenace says, I haven't had patience with it either to play it all the way through lol but I hope you have fun with it.
There's still a lot you can do with the base game, if I remember correctly you still have a rocket ship and that's a great feature. I could spend hours watching my Sim go flying off in the rocket and back again. You could even get creative with CAS and create your own version of an alien, with a rocket ship in the back yard. Even without the alien occult add ons, you can scroll to the bottom of the skin tones in CAS to get green skin so there's nothing to say you can't design a character that looks out of this world!
@Zander9823 Hi! First, I wanted to mention that the plant sim life state isn't permanent. It only lasts for five days and then your sim reverts to normal. Although, you could have them get and eat more forbidden fruit or use a cheat to make them a plant sim again.
The easiest way to change your sims into plant sims is by using a debug cheat; shift+click on a sim and click More Choices until you see the option Make Into Plant Sim (DEBUG). Note that for this option, you will need a mod that enables the DEBUG cheats, like MCCC. EDIT: The shift+click cheat to Make Into Plant Sim is available with just the normal testingcheats on code, it does not need a mod to enable it. Apologies for getting that wrong before. I was just doing some testing and saw the option in a mod free save.
This will instantly trigger the transformation into plant sim.
The next easiest method is to enable cheats by pressing ctrl+shift+C and typing testingcheats on then press enter. Then go into build mode and enter the cheat bb.showhiddenobjects and then search for Forbidden Fruit of the Plant Sim and buy it; it costs 450 simoleons. You could also search the Gallery for Forbidden Fruit. I see at least one room with one forbidden fruit that costs 454 simoleons which you would place on your lot. Then have the sim eat the forbidden fruit. You can also plant the forbidden fruit which becomes a tree that produces more fruits for your plant sim pleasure.
There are ways to get there in-game without cheats but the process can be a bit of a grind. As @PipMenace mentioned, it requires finding all the magic beans. Then you have to put them in the Magic PlantSim Stump (available in build mode), water them for the magic portal tree to grow, explore the portal tree and have the sim eat the "forbidden fruit" that is added to inventory after exploring. I've got a garden centre in the Gallery that might help, it's called The Farmer's Market. It has all the Magic Beans and the Forbidden Fruit too. Bits of it will be replaced by base game items because it has every plant in my game planted there, but the magic beans are base game so they will still be there 👍. They are on shelves along the wall looking like a bean rainbow lol.
I do like the tree you get from planting the magic beans. It looks really pretty and magical! If you add some Growfruit Trees too (I think they are base game too 🤔), you would have glowing trees everywhere!
