Re: The 50 Challenge - Weeks 1-7 NAT Stacked Fantasy Pack

@emery020 We know from Neo it only took 2 hours to fix his. EA support also told me they could fix it but oh what if the developers fix it, I could end up with 2 packs...as if that would be so terrible. I asked to speak to her manager but she arrogantly refused.

    @NFLdropMaddenI'm convinced that the fact that it worked for me (after 2 hours) has nothing to do with my person (i.e. in the sense that I was privileged). I did not face the bug for the NAT 91-93 fantasy pack. I assume that I was able to avoid the bug since I played the challenges as soon as they had been released and the bug occured only afterwards.

    I'd guess a similar pattern might have been in place with the final 'The 50' fantasy pack. I reported the bug immediately after finishing the Solos and would not have done it two hours later (since the missing pack was triggered by completing another Solo Challenge). reports from other players about this bug regarding the final fantasy pack appeared much later...

    but I agree, any discrimination between players (i.e it is solved for some players immediately while it is not solved for others, as implicitly mentioned by @NFLdropMadden) would be unacceptable.

  • @Neo_Novalis I appreciate your thoughtful response. We do need a commitment when they are going to fix this. At this point, they have not been reasonably responsive, even with the holidays and covid. How can we escalate our concerns that aren't being sufficiently addressed?

    Its just pathetic really. This mode is their money maker and for a fix which wouldn't even be difficult to sort out (Run a script to find the users who have completed the challenge, send them a pack) it just shows they don't really care. Their lack of communication is disgraceful. If i did this in my job I would be sacked, if doctors acted like EA, people would die.....

    The source of all this is greed. This pack is a "free pack". They keep pushing paid content that gets people to pay money to open packs.

    Their leadership also claimed that if they didn't fix the game they would provide refunds and/or Madden points. Clearly, the game isn't fixed and they did not keep their word.

    Furthermore, EA Support told me "I could fix it for you but then when the developers eventually fix it, you would get two packs." Mixed up priorities.

    EA Community Manager Blueberry doesn't even take pride enough in his company's customer service to respond to this post.

    @NFLdropMadden  thank you for your nice words! unfortunately I'm not even close to be able to give an answer to your question 'how we can escalate our concerns that aren't being sufficiently addressed?' 

    frankly, I think the dev team is dealing with so many issues, bugs etc etc that they just can't keep up. for instance, temporally parallel to this thread there is also one about the Cloud Franchise Leagues (on PC), which have not worked for over a week since the last Title Update. there the assumption is expressed that the Franchise Leagues enjoy much less priority than MUT...

    I do not want to believe that anyone of the dev team or other EA employees responsible for internal and/or external communication, or quality assessment and bug solving, is sabotaging the processes simply out of laziness or on purpose. 

    Madden (and maybe MUT with all its sub-modes, packs, rewarding systems, etc. in particular) is a very complex game (most likely also much more complex than e.g. FIFA due to more complex strategic dimensions). if something went wrong at the beginning (i.e. before the game was released) or if there wasn't enough time to test and fine-tune it, further improvements and extensions are even more difficult to implement without additional bugs and issues. if a team of programmers has to release the novelties too early due to time contraints, solving these issues becomes even impossible. the code most likely has not been carefully developed before and every 'solution' will take the form of a stopgap rather than a well thought out and planned structure. and this patterns make it even more difficult for solving the next upcoming bug....

    in writing that, I do not want to defend EA or the team responsible for Madden primarily. it is rather an attempt to explain how I imagine it could have come to this. for myself, I find it easier to deal with an annoying situation if I can halfway imagine how it came about. 

    I do some programming at work too (mainly scientific data analyses) and developed some quite complex codes already. If I did it in a very short timeframe and had to modify it afterwards in order to apply to a different usecase, I sometimes started from scratch (if deadlines allowed to do so) since it was easier to newly design the code for the new usecase than to adapt the existing one (which was not well planned before). for a complex game like Madden, this is not possible at all since there are so many intermediate steps (graphics, gameplays, menus, settings, etc.) necessary to come up with the output, i.e. a complex game.

    long rambling, short sense: I have resigned myself to the fact that this year the game is very unlikely to reach a satisfactory state for the players. probably this will also affect next year, if the EA internal organization does not improve significantly. for me, the question also arises whether the expectations (both by the players, as well as on the part of management and shareholders) are not much too high? every year to bring a new version on the market, which contains so much new, that players really have a motivation to actually buy the new version also... I strongly doubt that this is even possible. from my perspective, attempts like the 'Superstar KO mode' and 'the Yard' are reasoned just by this motive: providing something new allowing to sell the same game again and again. it is very disappointing that shareholder interests are more important than improving the game itself. but how could we blame EA for this alone? it is simply a central issue / mechanic of the free market economy....

    anyways, I love playing a football game like Madden. and I also love the pattern of collecting items and improve my lineup (as it is in MUT). I therefore decided to try to help improving the game (and swallow all the game-related frustration. well, that sometimes does not work at all...). if my contribution of either bug reporting or sharing the information I got with other players helps the community managers to focus on the most severe issues and bugs, it is maybe a small contribution for improving the game in the medium run...

    summarising: I have no answers to share. I only have an approach that hopefully helps dealing with frustration and anger....

  • @Neo_Novalis So, in summary, they didn’t put sufficient resources into testing the game. They still put it out for sale and took everyone’s money. Then they promised to fix the game and didn’t fully fix it. They keep pushing out new content without fixing the existing free content. Franchise is a free format. Further proving my point, priorities of EA are misguided •$$$$$$$.

    I don’t doubt your personal sincerity, but You have not answered my direct question. how do we elevate our concerns? How do we get a commitment when they will fix this? If we were to get a straight and direct answer the communication may be more the positive cumbaya, let’s all join by the campfire and sing and eat marshmallows, that you are seeking.

    I also am in a technical related field, but that really has nothing to do with this game getting fixed “timely”.

    I've been keeping up on this thread but have been bouncing around the forums for other tasks such as NBA LIVE Mobile's launch tomorrow. I also help manage the forums for NBA LIVE, UFC, Madden NFL, and NHL. Both here and the Official EA forums.

    The team is planning on fixing this for those impacted by it, you have my word on that. I don't have any specific updates to share right now though, which is why I haven't been responding because I know it's not ideal to be told to be patience and wait. I understand this is frustrating and rewards like this are important to everyone's MUT teams. Last update I had was that the integration to have our Support team failed so the engineers need a little bit more time to get this fixed.

    We'll absolutely update you all here once all ducks are lined up. Again, thank you for your patience and I'll make sure you all receive your rewards.

    @EA_Blueberry Thanks for reaching out. Please do reach out to EA developers and get a commitment when this can be resolved. When it gets fixed is just as important as it getting fixed. When glitches like this happen I do believe as others have posted also that additional compensation should be received by those affected. After one month, that is what it will take to make us feel good about our purchase. Free content needs to be made more of a priority, also.

    Yes, another week on top of the previous wait is super frustrating.  I've had to spend coins on the position I was going to upgrade with the pack.  I hope we get some info soon.  It would be nice to start next week with a fix or an update as to when that fix might occur

    @piddlefingers What is even more frustrating is EA support and EA Blueberry have both acknowledged openly that could have easily fixed this for us on a case by case basis but were more worried about us getting a second pack. They tried to argue that it was best for fairness, which is incredible ironic considering how fair it is that they sold us all a game that doesn’t work.

    Thank you for the updates.  I’m hoping you are able to get this resolved soon.  My son just finished this challenge today as well and was very disappointed after spending a lot of time to complete, only to see the wrong options in the pack.  I thought he was mistaken until finding this ongoing community thread.  Do I need to contact anyone to make sure he receives a correction  to the pack?  PSN: eddie2627

  • @Eddie2627 EA Support and EA Blueberry indicated that they could have fixed it for all of us already, on a case by case basis, but were worried about the fairness of players possibly getting two packs. So it is been one month and they are no closer to resolving. It has even occurred to EA how hypocritical and self serving it is for them to preach fairness when they sold you and I a game that doesn’t work.

    @EA_Blueberry I was very disturbed to find out when looking up my cases that they have been arbitrarily closed by EA support without any kind of resolution.

    I have not received the stacked week 1-7 player, yet EA Support closed the case....

    In another case, I paid 5500 snow for an OOP player pack. I never received the pack arbitrarily closed by EA support. No feedback to me whatsoever.

    Yesterday, I paid the 500 coins for a player pack but didn’t get the pack. I could open a case but we both know it is pointless. EA support doesn’t actually provide any technical support. There are numerous YouTube videos recording this.

    Please indicate what the process is for filing a formal complaint, when EA support not only closes cases that aren’t fixed but dishonestly and deceitfully closes the cases to pad their numbers to make it appear to their management that they are actually responsive...this is not a rhetorical question. I am requesting a response.

    The case may have been closed if it was a duplicate case or the Advisor provided you the correct information on how it's a known issue and there was nothing else they could specifically do to fix it at that moment for their interaction with you. Any cases left pending are open because there is action still needing to be done to them. This pack is not yet available to grant to players and I'm still awaiting for more information from the engineers on when it will be ready to issue out to impacted players.

    I'm not sure what went wrong with the pack you purchased and didn't receive it. Please contact our Support team immediately so they can take a second look. Formal complaints can also be submitted through Live-Support.

    It's upsetting to hear you've had some struggles lately in getting things fixed. You've been exceptionally active and voicing your opinion out on this NAT 91-93 Fantasy Pack. I can tell it's very important to you and must be a big addition for your MUT team. I assure you this will be fixed for those impacted and we should find out more details soon. I normally don't work Saturdays and will be out for the next couple days to return Tuesday. If you need immediate help, please contact Support below.

    As we have discussed, With everyday that passes, more than a month in, I am bothered that EA Support could have resolved this on a case by case basis but chose to wait on engineering. This was not a customer focused decision. At some point, there should be consideration to make it up to the community of gamers that play this game.

    @EA_Blueberry I want our concerns brought to pat mcafee today. He claims he wants to fix Madden...we are going to start holding him to his words...tell him he owes us additional make up packs...fair is fair...
