Re: [gameplay] player icons are missing when making defensive adjustments

There aren’t any defensive player icons while making defensive adjustments.  Why not?  This is a travesty

  • Yea I'm having the same problem you have to memorize the player name just to do an adjustment. Instead if the icons popping up above their heads.

These are the reasons EA fails us every time.  For years we get used to having a feature and then they take it completely away?  It’s hard for me to believe that they would do that and that its a mistake that will be reinstated with a update.

@messarounsee I guess I face the same issue. I do not see the player icons of the offense players if I would like to adjust Man Coverage assignments.

by the way: I'll move this thread to the bug reports section for better visibility. thank you for reporting this issue!

This issue is not fixed. I've installed the October update, playing on PC. I still do not see button icons above the heads of the receivers when I am trying to adjust defensive man coverage assignment.

You don't see the icon after you press Y (adjustments) and then A for individual assignments? Once you press A for individual assignment the icons show up.

Can you confirm which game mode you're playing and whether you're using an official Xbox One controller?

Hello, thanks for your response. I am playing on a PC and I am using an official xbox one controller.

I  choose the individual assignment by selecting the player group, choosing the player and then assigning him to man coverage, giving him a  player to cover by pressing the button corresponding to the receiver. Unfortunately the buttons are not showing up over the players' heads.

For example, I would reassign a blitzing middle linebacker to cover the strong side tight end man to man by pressing d-pad right twice, pressing the button corresponding to the middle linebacker's name, pressing right stick up to choose man coverage, then pressing the button corresponding the receiver I'd like him to cover. The problem is that the button icons do not appear over the receivers' heads making it impossible to know who is in the strong side TE position. Even if I know the offensive players' names and numbers they move around.

I will try to grab a screenshot.

Here are two clips I showed to 25%. In the first one I chose the right MLB and set him to man coverage by hitting right d, right d, x, right stick up (see to left controller overlay). No button icons.

In the second clip I set the individual coverage of the selected defender by hitting Y then A. Again, no button icons on receivers.

Thanks for the video. Does it do this in different camera angles? Wanted to know if it might be affecting that specific camera angle. I take it you've checked your visual settings to set back to default?

Since you're on PC it's important to check for Windows updates and driver updates for your video card. Would you be able to include a DxDiag? If those aren't updated it can lead to display issues like this. It can very well be a bug too, but we'll want to go through all options to verify everything is updated first.

Hello, thanks for your response. I've check several camera angles and there is no difference, no button icons.

I'm not sure what you mean by setting visual effects to default, how would I do this? I've checked many of the settings and none have any effect but I will set back to default or even do a clean re-install if you think it will help.

Windows 10 is up to date. I checked the AMD driver and found there was an update available. I installed, but no effect on the problem.

    I've attached my dxdiag file.

    Best,

    Patrick

Did you attach this DxDiag before or after the driver installation? Based off the DxDiag you shared the driver you have is outdated and the latest can be found here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/radeon-400-series/radeon-rx-400-series/radeon-rx-470

If you select Windows 10 64 bit there is an auto detect option I recommend going with.

Your BIOS is from 2018 and I've seen some strange game issues or crashes happen when that is outdated with new motherboards, however unless it's causing crashes or significant game issues I don't recommend updating it unless you're confident in that process. Any mis-steps when updating BIOS can break your motherboard.

I will look into updated the driver again. The dxdiag was after I updated.

It was not clear to me are you saying you think flashing my bios will help?

In an interesting wrinkle, I played an online franchise game vs another player and the button icons showed during that game. No game I've ever played in another cfm league or offline has showed the button icons and even free practice in that cfm league doesn't show them. They only show up during head to head league games.

    @virtualcappy1

In general, older BIOS versions could increase the chances of crashes. Especially with newer motherboards and video cards.

It's very possible the icons aren't showing up because of the outdated driver. Outdated drivers can cause visual issues for games.

Hello. I updated the video driver to 21.10.4 and there is no change, any other ideas?

    Thanks.

Have you checked your controller to see if it has the latest firmware update for it?

Right-clicking on the game in Origin and selecting repair could help. If these two options don't clear this up, it sounds like a bug report we'll need to check with the team to get logged if they're not already aware of it.

Hello. I updated the controllers firmware and clocked the repair button. Neither had an impact , the problem persists. How do we go about reporting as a bug?

Having this documented here is already flagged as a bug. Our QA team utilizes these forums and we report issues up to the team.

Hi I'm having this very same problem on madden 22 and now on madden 23 on Xbox 1. There are no receiver icons when placing defenders in man to man assignments. It only works properly online. I see this is a old thread but it still exists.
