Re: Hurricane and piercing mod question

Did you mean the pistol receiver? It only shoots through cover (and the floor 😛). Nothing else.

Yes, the pistol receiver.  It used to be the go-to mod for the hurricane, but now seems mostly worthless.  I wonder if that was intended or a bug?  It doesn't make much sense to be able to pierce through cement walls but not enemy armor.

  • I was told that the Receivers allow you to shoot through cover, but do not add damage against armor anymore.  I would love confirmation.

At least for story mode there would be no need for it, we use the augmentations instead, as in the [Heat Inducer] augmentation for armor damage, though you will have to choose between the armor damage and shield damage augmentation [Shield Disruptor] because you can only chose one of them per weapon 🙂

  • I guess it's true then, and not a bug.  RIP N7 Hurricane. Too bad.

RIP many weapons and confusion on receivers because they seem like a worthless mod.   I have been playing around with this and only good thing about Hurricane and other things like that is if you boost the damage high enough with the ROF they have you can tear apart most mobs. This still isnt very good though as you burn ammo like crazy in MP then.

Well it is an Action-RPG and the weapons are designed for this type of gameplay, the MP is just a bi- / side-product, in any case the receive mod is highly effective for what it is intended for, which is hitting targets through cover and the Hurricane is a very efficient weapon in the primary game mode, with the disruptor augmentation it  can take out an enemy's  shield in a split second and then you'll rip them apart with your abilities, for armored targets just slap in an [Incendiary Rounds] clip and it will take down the mob with ease :eahigh_file:

The best thing about the receiver is that most mobs will react by standing up when hit by a weapon, so with the receiver installed you can shoot at a target crouched down behind a cover and as the bullets will pierce through the cover and hit the target, the target will stand up and give you a clear line of fire 😉

Now combine the receiver with the Infiltrator profile and you'll become even more effective, you will now not only be able to shoot the mobs through the cover, but also see them through the cover, nowhere to hide sucker! 👿

Those don't actually apply the ammo consumable to your weapon, they only increase the damage of the ammo consumable itself.

Wait! what???! so those two augmentations only have an effect when you use them in combination with the consumables? 🤔

That is correct. Waste of an augment slot unless you plan on reapplying the consumables regularly. Really wish they would've kept them as passive powers and only allow one activate at a time instead of making it a temporary consumable buff.

Guess I might as well remake my weapons, it's so rare that I remember to use the consumables in the heat of battle that those two augmentations are pretty much pointless then ☹️
