There are two ways to get to the hot labs. First you need to talk to Captain Ventralis for the first time. After this chat, you're attacked by rachni. The options are:

1. Go back through the elevator you came from, then enter the hot labs through the nearby door.
2. Go through the living areas and help out the doctor, which will later allow you to sneak in from the back to deal with the matriarch first. You can then continue ahead towards the hot labs. Check the map for guidance.
